Kurukshetra – Episode 430

Drishti watches Poornima nearing the room and has a flashback…

Urvashi sees Poornima coming to the kitchen from the corner of her eye and turns back to Rauktima.

Urvashi: So does that mean you don’t have any faith in the Bahus of Chandra Mahel?

Rauktima: When they have double standards and dishonest ways of thinking, no I don’t. And as long as the Betis of this house are around, the Bahus better keep their guard up because I’ll be watching your every move.

Poornima overhears this part of the conversation and walks into the kitchen.

Poornima: What are you saying Didi?

Rauktima: Poornima…

Urvashi: I was just offering her a helping hand and…

Poornima: No need to tell me Chachi, I heard everything. Clearly Rauktima Di doesn’t think that we can maintain a household to her liking.

End flashback…

Drishti turns to Urvashi.

Drishti: But be honest with me Urvashi ji, tell me about your Bahu Poornima. She acts like a smart cookie, but is she really?

Urvashi laughs.

Urvashi: Poornima? Smart? She wishes. You’re right when you say she ‘acts’ like it. I have manipulated that girl in more ways than you can imagine Drishti ji and every single time she just takes the bait you know. She has been a pivotal part of each of my schemes in the past and she hasn’t even known it. She has a mouth like a scissor so all I do is give her the appropriate material to cut with. In my opinion even my Bahu Jaya was smarter than her, although she never showed it. Poornima has and always will be just a pawn in this house that I can move around to my benefit in the games I play and…

Urvashi stops abruptly when she sees Poornima standing at the door. Drishti turns to look at her and pretends to look guilty.

Urvashi: Poornima… did you want something?

Poornima: All these years I’ve been so faithful to you and this is what you’ve thought of me all along?

Urvashi: What are you talking about I just…

Poornima: I heard everything you said about me Choti Ma.

Urvashi: No I was just…

Poornima: Please don’t embarrass yourself in front of your guest by changing your story. Excuse me.

Poornima walks off and Urvashi shakes her head.

Drishti: And she’s emotional too.

Urvashi: Aren’t they all?

Drishti: Their greatest downfall if you ask me.

Urvashi: Absolutely, shall we have a drink then?

Drishti: Why not?

Urvashi goes to get a drink and Drishti smiles to herself. Meanwhile… Rajind finds himself standing outside Chopra Mansion. He walks into the house and looks around. A woman around his age walks into the living room, she’s decked in jewelry and looks slightly vicious… She walks over to Rajind. He sees her.

Rajind: Hello Nirmala, how are you?

Nirmala: I’m fine thank you. What’s the matter Rajind? Have you forgotten the way to Chandra Mahel?

Rajind: No, I came here to see someone.

Nirmala: Oh goody… the great powers that be in the palace of the moon have decided to grace us with their presence.

Rajind: Um… is Ashvini Bhabi at home?

Nirmala: Bua ji is in her room, I don’t have the heart to disturb her…

Just then they both hear Ashvini’s voice…

Ashvini: Just say you don’t have a heart at all Bahu.

Rajind and Nirmala turn to look at Ashvini as she comes walking down the stairs. She hasn’t changed much, she just looks a lot calmer than she used to. She walks over to Rajind.

Ashvini: What brings you to Chopra Mansion Rajind?

Nirmala: I was just asking him the same thing Bua ji.

Ashvini: Really, well now that he’s here you might as well give him something to drink don’t you think?

Nirmala: Yes Bua ji.

Nirmala walks away and Ashvini turns to Rajind.

Ashvini: I don’t know how Vidhushi Bhabi tolerates her but she is Vayu’s wife Veer’s mother so I suppose I have to tolerate her as well. But that doesn’t mean you need to. The next time she says something cocky to you just tell her off Rajind.

Rajind just smiles.

Ashvini: Have a seat, tell me what made you come to Chopra Mansion to see me after all this time.

They both sit down.

Rajind: Actually Bhabi… I needed to ask you something about the past.

Ashvini: Sounds interesting. What did you want to ask?

Rajind: I don’t mean to bring up bad memories but there is something that I really, really need to know.

Ashvini: Alright…

Rajind: Bhabi… remember the time you… uh…

Ashvini: Rajind, I’ve done lots of things that I’m not so proud of. It’s alright to bring them up.

Rajind: Ok… Remember the time you kidnapped Shastra?

Ashvini is a bit taken aback… but she’s calm.

Ashvini: Yes…

Rajind: It was Rauktima Di who found you right?

Ashvini: Yes.

Rajind: Bhabi I need to know how she found you.

Ashvini: What?

Rajind: Yes it’s very important that I find out how she found you. I mean no one knew where you were and no one could find you but she did. How?

Ashvini starts to think…

Ashvini: Actually Rajind… All I remember is Rauktima coming into the house and then after that we fought briefly but then the police came and we all know what happened after that. To tell you the truth I don’t quite know how she found me either.

Rajind looks disappointed.

Ashvini: Why did you want to know?

Rajind: It was… I was…

Just then Nirmala walks back in with some tea.

Nirmala: Here you go.

Rajind: Thank you.

Nirmala stands around waiting for them to continue their conversation. Ashvini looks up at her.

Ashvini: Now don’t tell me you have nothing better to do in this house other than stand here and listen to our conversation Bahu.

Nirmala: Well I…

Ashvini: Come on, make yourself scarce.

Nirmala: Yes Bua ji.

Nirmala walks off and Rajind stands to leave.

Ashvini: Are you off so soon?

Rajind: Yes Bhabi. I have to get back home. Krithika needs me.

Ashvini: Krithika is back home is she?

Rajind: Yes she is. I thought you would know.

Ashvini: How would I? The ties between Chopra Mansion and Chandra Mahel seem to have been severed a long time ago. But it’s alright, what’s to be done.

Rajind: Thank you for your time and I’m sorry if I wasted it.

Ashvini: Not at all, and please drop by whenever you feel like it. You know I’m forbidden from coming to Chandra Mahel but no one is forbidden from coming here. I’m sure Naren Bhaiyya and Vidhushi Bhabi will appreciate it a lot and so will Vayu.

Rajind: Ok Bhabi. Thanks again.

He leaves and Ashvini smiles. Later… Urvashi is sitting in the great hall when Nachiket walks in.

Nachiket: Choti Ma, can I talk to you?

Urvashi: Of course, sit down.

Nachiket sits.

Urvashi: So I guess you’ve made your mind up about the offer then?

Nachiket: Yes I have.

Urvashi: And you’ve decided to sell?

Nachiket: No I haven’t.

Urvashi is taken aback.

Urvashi: What do you mean you haven’t?

Nachiket: I’ve given it a lot of thought Choti Ma and as big as this offer is, I can’t just let go of my mother’s company like that. It meant too much to her and therefore it means a lot to me.

Urvashi: Nachiket, this is no time to be emotional about the past.

Nachiket: Maybe I am being emotional but I believe that I’m doing the right thing. I can’t let everything she built for so many years just be taken away for some money.

Urvashi: Some money? Do you have any idea what kind of money we’re talking about here?

Nachiket: I do and I’m sorry but this is my final decision.

Urvashi breathes in deeply.

Urvashi: Well I’m sorry too but my final decision is that we are selling.

Nachiket is shocked to hear this.

Nachiket: What?

Urvashi: You might be dead set on making this foolish move but I’m certainly not.

Nachiket: But I don’t want to sell.

Urvashi: That may be so but I do want to sell and I will.

Nachiket: But you can’t do that.

Urvashi: Like hell I can’t. You forget that the day you moved into Agnihotri Incorporated we merged the Singhania Group of Companies with it. Your mother’s company is now a subsidiary of Agnihotri Inc. and therefore I get to take the final call on all these decisions. I asked you about what you want to do out of decency but if this is what you have decided then I’m going to have to overrule you. Singhania will be sold and that’s that.

At this point Poornima walks in as well.

Nachiket: And I’m telling you that’s not how it’s going to be.

Nachiket stands up.

Nachiket: I won’t allow it.

Urvashi: You won’t allow it? My dear boy I’m afraid you have no choice.

Nachiket: That’s what you think Choti Ma, but I am no fool. I read those papers before I signed them years ago. Singhania remains a subsidiary of Agnihotri Incorporated only for as long as I do. If I leave the company then Singhania goes with me.

Urvashi: Are you threatening me?

Nachiket: I think you’ve got this the wrong way around. You are the one making threats and leaving me with no choice. I will not sell this company at any cost and if I have to leave Agnihotri Inc. to keep it that way then I will.

Urvashi: You will be making a big mistake.

Nachiket: Actually I think the biggest mistake I made was joining hands with you. You will have my resignation within the hour and I’ll be moving to Singhania Mansion with Poornima and Shubh as soon as possible.

He turns to Poornima.

Nachiket: Come on Poornima, we have to pack.

Nachiket walks up and Urvashi stands up, she goes to Poornima.

Urvashi: Explain to your husband that he’s making a mistake and help him see…

Poornima: I’m sorry Choti Ma, but I’m just a stupid pawn am I not? Yesterday I did your bidding and today I’ll do my husband’s bidding.

Kurukshetra – Episode 431

Urvashi looks angry and Poornima continues to stare blankly at her.

Urvashi: Listen to me Poornima…

Poornima: The time for listening is over because I’ve heard all I had to hear. If this is Nachiket’s final decision then as his wife all I can do is support it. I’m sorry Choti Ma but if he says we’re leaving then we’re leaving.

Poornima walks away and Urvashi is left frothing in fury. Just then Drishti walks in.

Drishti: That didn’t go so well did it?

Urvashi: Can you believe how stupid these people are?

Drishti: Let them go Urvashi ji, let them go. They can stay tied to their emotions for the rest of their lives and never gain any success. Don’t think of this as a loss but as something you have gained. This way, when the Amsterdam project takes off and the profits come in, you won’t have to share it with anyone.

Urvashi thinks about this for a while.

Urvashi: You’re right. You’re absolutely right.

Drishti: There, don’t you feel better now?

Urvashi: I do. Thank you Drishti ji, you’ve been such a good friend to me through all this.

Drishti: Urvashi ji, you’ve opened your house to me and you’ve treated me like a member of this family, why wouldn’t I be there for you, as your friend.

Urvashi: It means a lot to me.

Urvashi smiles and walks off and Drishti smiles as well, she thinks to herself…

Drishti: I’m playing the same game you played on this house Urvashi and you can’t even see it. You too came into this house as a friend and then turned into our biggest enemy after which you destroyed everything. The same way, today I’ve come back into this house as your friend and you don’t even know that I am indeed your biggest enemy and I won’t stop until I’ve destroyed you completely.

She turns around to walk away and sees Geet standing there.

Drishti: Geet?

Geet: Dad told me about what you had said to Nachiket Maama.

Drishti: Did he now?

Geet: How could you be so cold and cruel?

Drishti: I was merely trying to explain to him that…

Geet: Save it, Mrs. Drishti Kaul. Explanations are expected from those who are your own and you mean nothing to me. I wish you had stayed away from us, I wish you had stayed dead!

Drishti is hurt when she hears this but Geet just walks away ands she fights back a tear, thinking to herself…

Drishti: I’m sorry Geet but I’m doing all of this to save our family from Urvashi. You will understand why I’m doing what I’m doing one day and then you’ll see why this was the only way.

Later that evening, Rajind is in deep thought on the terrace when Dushyanth sees him. He walks over to him.

Dushyanth: Jeeja ji.

Rajind is jolted out of his train of thought.

Rajind: Dushyanth, I didn’t see you come in.

Dushyanth: I noticed. Is something on your mind?

Rajind: No… I was just thinking about Krithika.

Dushyanth: I’ve been thinking a lot about her as well.

Rajind: Sometimes I don’t have the strength to even sit down and talk to her. She used to be so full of life and now…

Dushyanth: Don’t worry Jeeja ji, she will be fine.

Rajind: I hope so.

Dushyanth: You know, the other day when I was with her, she did say something to me.

Rajind: Really? What did she say?

Dushyanth: It was something about telling Kartik Chachu something.

Rajind’s ears pick up.

Rajind: What did she want to tell him?

Dushyanth: She just kept saying that she had to say something to him before it was too late. Does that mean anything to you?

Rajind: Well, the day Krithika lost her baby she was found outside Dad’s room. She insisted that she wanted to tell him something but then…

Dushyanth: So she never mentioned what it was that she wanted to tell him?

Rajind: No… but it had something to do with Nakshatra’s death.

Dushyanth: What? So maybe she knew that Kartik Chachu was going to do something and…

Rajind: That’s the thing. She never accused him of anything.

Dushyanth: Then whom did she accuse?

Rajind: Choti Ma.

Dushyanth is shocked to hear this.

Rajind: She said that Choti Ma had Nakshatra killed.

Dushyanth: But that doesn’t make any sense. Why would Choti Ma kill her own son?

Rajind: According to Krithika, Choti Ma’s entrance into this house happened through a major conspiracy. She said that…

Rajind tells Dushyanth the whole story. Dushyanth listens with his mouth opened and is very shocked to hear all of this.

Rajind: And soon after that Krithika was sent to the mental facility. None of us wanted to believe she was mad but at the same time, the things she was saying and add to that, everybody knew that she reacted the same way when she lost her first child.

Dushyanth: But do you believe her now?

Rajind: I don’t know what to believe anymore… I went to see Ashvini Bhabi today.

Dushyanth: Why?

Rajind: I wanted to ask her how exactly Rauktima Di found her and Shastra.

Dushyanth: Did she say anything?

Rajind: According to her Rauktima Di just showed up one day with the police. She never knew how she found her.

Dushyanth: I suppose the only way we can find the truth out is by making Krithika well again.

Rajind: I guess.

Meanwhile… Krithika has made her way downstairs and is walking aimlessly around the house. She sees the mandir and walks into it. She spends some time there looking around and then she walks out again. At this point, Urvashi has also walked in and she sees Krithika.

Urvashi: You… what are you doing out of your room?

Krithika doesn’t answer her and just stares into space.

Urvashi: Silly me, I’m asking a madwoman what she’s doing roaming around. What’s the matter Krithika? Are you looking for things that will help you remember your past? Are you trying to resurrect your memories of Chandra Mahel and of all your brothers and sisters? Too bad you won’t be able to.

Krithika looks up at Urvashi at this point.

Urvashi: You know when I first brought you back home I was always a little afraid of how things would turn out. I didn’t know what condition you would be in. But when I see you now, I know that nothing will go wrong. You know why? Because you will never be well again.

Urvashi walks over to Krithika and starts circling her.

Urvashi: You and your sister thought you would rule Chandra Mahel but look at what happened. The only person who rules this house now is me. And frankly, you have no one left to even take care of you except that worthless husband of yours. All your darling brothers are gone…

At that point Dushyanth walks in.

Dushyanth: What are you saying Choti Ma?

Urvashi turns to look at him.

Urvashi: I was just talking to Kritihika in hopes that she would remember something.

Dushyanth: Didn’t sound like that to me.

Urvashi: Well either way it’s not like I care.

Urvashi shrugs and walks off. Dushyanth goes over to Krithika.

Dushyanth: Don’t listen to her Di. The others may have gone but I’m still here. Your little brother is here to take care of you. Don’t worry about a thing. Come with me, let me take you back to your room.

Dushyanth takes Krithika by the hand and then Krithika looks up at him.

Krithika: Dushyanth…

Dushyanth is both surprised and thrilled to hear her say his name.

Dushyanth: Didi… did you just call me by my name?

Krithika stares at him for a long time.

Dushyanth: It’s ok, you don’t have to say anything else… it’s alright Di… Come on, let’s get you to your room.

Dushyanth leads Krithika away and unknown to them Drishti is watching all of this. She thinks to herself…

Drishti: This is how we used to be. No matter what disaster befell this family we were always there for each other. But everyone has just given into Urvashi out of fear or helplessness. I promised myself that I would break this family completely before I made it again and that’s exactly what I’m doing. The most important thing is that everyone understands Urvashi will go to great lengths to satisfy her own desires. Everyone who has left will return and that will be the day that this family is together again. It will all be over soon…

The next day… Urvashi is having breakfast when Drishti walks in. She goes over to the table and sits down.

Drishti: Good morning Urvashi ji.

Urvashi: Drishti ji, good morning, have some breakfast.

Drishti: I will, thank you. Actually I wanted to talk to you about something else.

Urvashi: Tell me.

Drishti: An important business associate of mine has just flown into India and I promised to take him out to dinner. But now that we’ve become partners I was thinking it would be nice if you could join us too.

Urvashi: Oh lovely.

Drishti: I’ll have to call the hotel and organize the thing for this evening so…

Urvashi: Hotel? What nonsense. If this associate of yours is as important as you say then you might as well bring him here to Chandra Mahel. I mean it’s no hotel but it is a palace.

They both laugh.

Drishti: Urvashi ji, you’ve already done so much for me, I don’t want to trouble you or the household anymore.

Urvashi: What nonsense. Just set the time and let me know, I’ll have the servants prepare a feast.

Drishti: Are you sure?

Urvashi: Of course I’m sure.

Drishti: But wouldn’t it be impersonal if he’s coming to Chandra Mahel and only the two are present for diner.

Urvashi: You’re right. I’ll tell you what, I’ll ask Aksh to join us, if that’s alright with you.

Drishti: Of course it is.

Urvashi: And I’ll ask Dushyanth to join us as well. Now that the others are no longer here I might as well turn to the people I can depend on.

Drishti: That’s great. Thank you so much Urvashi ji. Shall we say eight this evening?

Urvashi: Sounds perfect.

Drishti: I’ll go make the call.

Urvashi: Ok.

Drishti gets up and leaves. Urvashi continues to eat. Meanwhile… in his room, Rajind gets a call.

Rajind: Hello?

Ashvini: Rajind, it’s Ashvini.

Rajind: Hello Bhabi, what can I do for you?

Ashvini: Actually there maybe something I can do for you.

Rajind: Did you remember anything about what I asked you?

Ashvini: I did. You looked so tense I decided I owed it to you to think about all I remembered. You know while I was in hiding with Shastra I did all I could to make sure no one saw me and I was certain no one did. But then I remembered that one day when I was out shopping there was a woman who was giving me strange looks. I didn’t know her at the time so I presumed she was just curious. But it never crossed my mind that that woman was Urvashi Chachi.

Kurukshetra – Episode 432

Rajind’s eyes go wide in shock.

Ashvini: You see I didn’t know who she was at the time and so it didn’t really matter. But now when I think about it I realize that it is possible she recognized me and then she may have followed me to where I was hiding. Apart from that I can’t think of any other way that Rauktima could have found out where I was.

There is a moment of silence.

Ashvini: Hello? Rajind are you there?

Rajind: Yes Bhabi, I am. I uh… thank you so much for calling. I’m in a bit of a hurry now so I’ll call you back.

Ashvini: Alright. Take care.

Rajind: You too.

They hang up and Rajind continues to look shocked.

Rajind: If Choti Ma was the one who told Rauktima Di about where Ashvini Bhabi was hiding then that means that everything Krithika was saying was true.

Rajind feels as though someone has ripped the earth out from under his feet.

Rajind: God save us… then that means that… no… how can this be possible? That means that Choti Ma really did kill Nakshatra. That means that she purposely sent Krithika to the mental facility and kept her there all these years because Krithika knew the truth and Kartik Chachu is in jail for something he didn’t do.

Voice: Yes it’s all true…

Rajind feels the blood drain from his face as he slowly turns around to see who has heard him. He is shocked beyond belief to see Drishti standing there.

Drishti: It’s all true Rajind. Everything that you suspect is all true.

Rajind: What are you doing here? What do you want?

Drishti: I want to tell you the truth about what happened in Chandra Mahel twenty years ago.

Rajind: But how would you know what happened here?

Drishti: Because… because I’m not Drishti Kaul…

Rajind’s eyes almost pop out of his head.

Drishti: It’s me… Rauktima.

Now Rajind is reeling in shock.

Rajind: What?

Drishti walks in and closes the door. She then goes over to Rajind.

Drishti: Look at me… I’m Rauktima.

Rajind: You can’t be… you’re…

Drishti: Dead? No… Drishti is dead.

Rajind: I don’t understand.

Drishti: We don’t have a lot of time but I need to tell you everything fast.

Drishti tells Rajind about Urvashi’s ill intentions and how she wanted to break Kaushik and Darpana’s marriage but then how she set her eyes on Kartik. She then tells him about how she found out where Ashvini was holding Shastra and blackmailed Rauktima into getting her married to Kartik. She goes on to tell him about how Urvashi intentionally attempted to kill her and how she went into a coma for six years and she follows it up with the deal she made with Gajendra Kaul and how she spent the last fourteen years creating a name for herself as Drishti Kaul so that she would have all the power she needed to return to Chandra Mahel and destroy Urvashi once and for all. Rajind feels like he’s on information overload.

Rajind: Didi? Is that really you?

Drishti: It is… I’m so sorry about everything that I have said and done since I came into Chandra Mahel but I only did all those things to ensure Urvashi would never doubt the fact that I was Drishti and not Rauktima. I had to turn my heart to stone and say mean things to my brothers, insult my sister and show no love to the children of this house. But I did all these things to make each and every member of this family see that Urvashi was manipulating them all these years and that she only cares about herself.

Rajind frowns for a while.

Rajind: But Didi, if what you’re saying is true then Aksh knew about Urvashi from the beginning.

Drishti: Yes he did.

Rajind: Then why did he lie to me?

Drishti: What do you mean?

Rajind: I went to ask him if he knew how you found Shastra and he said you never told him. And when Krithika first accused Choti Ma of all these things Aksh never once opened his mouth to side with her.

Drishti is shocked to hear this.

Drishti: He was just silent?

Rajind: Yes.

Drishti: Maybe Urvashi is threatening him with something.

Rajind: But that still doesn’t account for why he’s lied to us for all these years. Didi my wife has spent twenty years in a mental facility. How could he do this?

Drishti: That is something we’re going to have to deal with later. Right now I need your help because apart from me and Krithika, you’re the only one who knows the truth. But I can’t act on anything because I need to continue maintaining this act of mine instead and Krithika is in no condition to reveal anything and even if she does Urvashi will just do what she did to her twenty years ago. But now that you know the truth you have to be very careful Rajind. No one must know about this until the right time. Tell me are you with me? Will you fight with me to rid this house of the evil named Urvashi?

Rajind feels a new kind of strength come over him. He looks at her straight in the eye…

Rajind: Of course Didi. I’m with you.

Drishti smiles.

Drishti: Thank you… now this battle will end far sooner than I expected it to. But before we take Urvashi on, there’s one more thing we have to do.

Rajind: What’s that?

Drishti: I’ve severed her ties with this family one by one. It was me who made the call to Dadi Bua, bringing her here but I made the call from Jaya’s phone so that Urvashi would be forced to punish her by revealing her secret. I was the one who staged Manasvi’s kidnapping so that Urvashi would lose her hold on Katya Bhabi and I was the one who called Manisha Chachi and brought her here to reveal the truth about Manasvi’s paternity. Then I used Sangeeta Chachi’s company as leverage to make Nachiket open his eyes to Urvashi’s reality and it all went as planned. All three families have left her and now all she has left is Dushyanth. But after tonight, she won’t have him either.

Rajind: How are you planning on doing that?

Drishti: I wish I could tell you but if I did then you would try to stop me. But you need to know one thing Rajind, when we get together as a family again it has to be without secrets and tarnished pasts. Everyone has to come to terms with their past and so do their children. That is the only way we’ll ever have peace in Chandra Mahel. Otherwise, every day someone keeps on holding to some semblance of what was and they keep using it against us. But if we deal with our past now then no one can trouble us in the future. So now Dushyanth has to come face to face with his past just like the others did.

Rajind: But Didi…

Drishti: Trust me, please… All I need you to do for now is take care of Krithika and don’t let any misfortune befall her. Keep her safe and when the time is right we will make Urvashi pay for what she has done.

Rajind thinks for a while and then nods his head.

Drishti: Tonight Urvashi will lose her last pawn on the chessboard and then she will be mine to control completely.

Drishti and Rajind exchange looks one last time and then part ways. While Rajind is making his way to his room he runs into Aksh.

Aksh: Rajind… slow down. Where’s the fire?

Rajind: I’m afraid I’m too late to put it out. But it’s nice to know some people like watching it burn.

Aksh: What? What are you talking about?

Rajind: Sorry… just a little something a I read somewhere. By the way, I wanted to ask you one more time if you knew about how Rauktima Di found Shastra and Ashvini Bhabi.

Aksh: I told you… I don’t know…

Rajind: Yes, yes you did. Alright then. I have to go check on Krithika now.

Rajind walks off and Aksh looks confused. Later that evening, everything is prepared for dinner and Drishti comes downstairs looking more beautiful than ever. As she walks into the great hall she runs into Aksh who is on an intercept path.

Drishti: Oh for goodness sake do I need to ask you to watch where you’re going?

Aksh: No. I can see clearly ahead.

Drishti: Really? I always thought contrary. Excuse me.

Drishti walks off and Aksh shakes his head in dismay. She sees Urvashi giving the servants some last minute instructions and walks over to her.

Drishti: Urvashi ji, I have to say you have outdone yourself this time. Everything looks brilliant.

Urvashi: Thank you Drishti ji, it’s important to make a good first impression, that’s what I think.

Drishti: And I’ve always told you, I like the way you think.

Urvashi: Of course. Come, let’s get started on a drink and Dushyanth will be with us shortly.

Drishti: Excellent.

The two of them move over to a drink stand and Urvashi pours some drinks. Just then Dushyanth walks in.

Urvashi: Ah, you’re just on time.

Dushyanth: For one… but that’s easy, there’s less people clogging the taps in the house, so I was able to have a quick wash.

Urvashi gives Dushyanth a disdainful look.

Urvashi: Look I know you’re upset about your brothers leaving the house but I never asked them to go.

Dushyanth: I’d rather not get into this right now. Let’s just have dinner.

Drishti: We can’t, our guest isn’t here yet.

Dushyanth: Great, then I suppose I’ll join you for a drink.

Urvashi: Please…

The three of them now have drinks in their hand and they sit down to have them. At long last they hear a car outside and they all stand up. Drishti turns to face the other two.

Drishti: Wait here, I’ll go welcome him and bring him in.

Urvashi: Alright.

Drishti leaves.

Dushyanth: Why is she making such a huge fuss over this business partner of hers?

Urvashi: Apparently he’s someone very important and they’ve been working together for some time now and she obviously wants to keep him in the good books. I like the way this woman does business, she makes it look so easy.

Dushyanth: She has no other life, of course it’s easy for her.

Urvashi: We should learn something from an emotionless person such as herself… She’s a good example of how you must keep your distractions away when you’re dedicated to completing a task.

Urvashi looks away from Dushyanth to the entrance of the great hall and just then her jaw drops. Dushyanth sees the weird look on her face and he too turns to look at what she’s looking at. Suddenly he feels as though the room is spinning out of control. He tries to catch his breath but finds it increasingly difficult to do.

Drishti: Urvashi ji, Dushyanth ji, I would like you to meet one of my oldest business partners and a good friend, Mr. Sanjeev Thakral.

Sanjeev looks smart and well dressed but his face shows how uncomfortable he is standing inside Chandra Mahel in front of Dushyanth. Drishti knows exactly what is going on but still looks back and forth from Sanjeev to Dushyanth and Urvashi and pretends to act as though she’s sensing some bad vibe.

Drishti: Is everything alright?

No one says anything.

Drishti: Oh I’m sorry do you already know each other?

Urvashi: Actually… Sanjeev is from the Thalral family and even though Soumil is technically an Agnihotri, he grew up most of his life thinking he was a Thakral and therefore he and Sanjeev are like cousins…

Sanjeev: There’s more to that story Urvashi ji, and you know it.

Drishti: There is? Well what is it?

Sanjeev looks at Dushyanth.

Sanjeev: Do you want to tell her Dushyanth or should I?

Dushyanth looks dumbstruck.

Episode 429

Kurukshetra – Episode 429

The next day… Aksh is busy working in his office when Rajind walks in.

Rajind: Good morning.

Aksh: Hey, come on in.

Rajind:Thanks. How’s work going?

Aksh: Well it would have been a mess without you here but thankfully Geet has got everything under control

Rajind: He’s a smart boy.

Aksh: So what brings you in and how is Krithika?

Rajind: She’s fine… but I’m here to talk to you about Rauktima Di.

Aksh: Oh?

Rajind: Yea… you know… you never told me how she managed to find Shastra and Ashvini Bhabi all those years ago.

Aksh is a bit puzzled to hear this.

Rajind: I mean, we all spent so much time trying to locate her after Ashvini Bhabi kidnapped her. And then one day out of no where, bam, Rauktima Di finds her.

Aksh: Actually what happened was…

Aksh is about to say how Rauktima found the baby when he has a flashback…

Urvashi: I’ll tell you what I’ll do with you…

Aksh is tense.

Urvashi: Nothing… Absolutely nothing.

Now he’s surprised.

Urvashi: Consider this your lucky day Damad ji. As you know, I’ve taken care of every single person that has come in my way. Rauktima, Nakshatra, Kartik and now Krithika. We don’t want the same thing to happen to you now do we? So let’s make a deal you and me.

Aksh: What sort of deal?

Urvashi: I’ll leave you alone to pine over the loss of your wife… but in exchange, you will keep your mouth shut about all the things you know.

Aksh: But…

Urvashi: Did I say there was room for compromise? I don’t think so. You do as I say and I’ll leave you alone, try to break your boundaries and Geet is not going to be very safe…

End flashback…

Aksh: So what happened was… Rauktima suddenly told me that she had a lead but she didn’t want to tell anyone anything until she found out for sure. Then on the day of Kartik Chachu and Choti Ma’s wedding, she suddenly honed in on her discovery and went over to Ashvini Bhabi’s hideout. After that we never really asked her how she managed to find Shastra because it seemed irrelevant.

Rajind looks disappointed.

Aksh: Is there a particular reason you wanted to know about this?

Rajind: Well… never mind, it’s pointless I guess.

Aksh: Rajind, I think that you should focus all of your efforts into making Krithika well again, don’t go digging up the past, there’s only heartache to be found there, for both you and me.

Rajind: I suppose you’re right. I have to be headed back home now. I’ll see you later.

Aksh: Alright.

Rajind leaves and Aksh thinks to himself…

Aksh: I’m sorry I had to lie to you my friend. It’s not been easy for me to keep these secrets to myself all these years but I’ve had no choice. I haven’t fallen asleep properly in the past twenty years knowing that our family is being ruled by the same woman who hurt Rauktima and killed Nakshatra and imprisoned Kartik Chachu and proved Krithika was insane. But I’ve simply had no choice.

And outside the office… Rajind is still not convinced. He thinks to himself…

Rajind: This insanity in Krithika has to have sprung up from somewhere, there has to be some basis to why this happened to her and I refuse to believe it had anything to do with her losing her baby. There is more to this story and I will not rest till I find out what it is. Aksh may not have the answers to my questions but there is someone else who might.

Meanwhile… at Chandra Mahel…

Nachiket: You wanted to see me Choti Ma.

Urvashi: Yes Nachiket have a seat.

He sits down and Urvashi looks all business like.

Urvashi: I’ve just received a very impressive offer and I’m inclined to take it.

Nachiket: Really? What is the offer?

Urvashi: You know how much we’ve invested in the Amsterdam project don’t you?

Nachiket: Yes.

Urvashi: And you agree it’s a large sum.

Nachiket: Of course.

Urvashi: Would you believe me if I told you that someone is willing to pay us thrice that amount for the Singhania Group of Companies?

Nachiket doesn’t know how to react.

Urvashi: Isn’t that… impressive?

Nachiket: It is Choti Ma.

Urvashi: Then you agree that we should sell.

Nachiket: Choti Ma, that sort of money may never come our way again.

Urvashi: I knew you’d agree with me on that.

Nachiket: But we’re talking about Mom’s company.

Urvashi: What’s your point?

Nachiket: My point is, she spent her whole life building that company and she left it to me when she died.

Urvashi: And now you have the chance to benefit from something she’s left behind.

Nachiket: I don’t know Choti Ma… Knowing that I have that company with me makes me feel like I still have her with me.

Urvashi: You must not attach yourself on to things like that Nachiket. You have her memories and all the good things she’s left behind for you. You should consider this a blessing from her that someone is willing to pay so much for a company that’s not really worth the amount. Don’t you think?

Nachiket looks disturbed.

Nachiket: If you could just give me some time to think this over.

Urvashi: Of course. But make it fast. Offers like this don’t last a lifetime. They come, they go.

Nachiket: I promise I’ll let you know soon.

Nachiket walks out of her room looking deflated. He walks through the house aimlessly and in deep thought. Finally he has arrived near the dining room and Poornima is just walking out of the kitchen when she sees him. She walks over to him.

Poornima: Hey.

He looks up at her.

Nachiket: Hi.

Poornima: What’s going on? Why do you look so upset?

Nachiket: It’s nothing.

Poornima: Come on Nachiket, something must have happened.

Nachiket: Well… Choti Mas has got an offer, someone wants to buy Mom’s company off us.

Poornima: What?

Nachiket: Yea. And they’re willing to pay three times the amount we’ve invested in the Amsterdam project.

Poornima: Is that a lot of money?

Nachiket: More than you can imagine.

Poornima: So why are you upset then?

Nachiket: How can I not be Poornima? My mother and shared the closest relationship a parent and child could have shared in this house. She was not just my mother, she was my best friend. There was nothing in this world she wouldn’t have done for me, so much so that she went looking for you when we found out you were pregnant. This company was her life both before and after her time at Chandra Mahel. She put all she had into this company and I can’t part with it just because someone is willing to pay a lot of money for it.

Poornima: Nachiket, life goes on. I’m not saying that you should forget your mother but I know that if she were alive today she would want only what was best for you and your family. She would have wanted you to take this offer.

Just then Drishti walks by and goes over to them.

Drishti: I see Urvashi ji has told you about the offer on the Singhania Company.

Nachiket: She did.

Drishti: You look really unhappy for someone who’s about to make a lot of money.

Nachiket: I just don’t know how to react to selling my mother’s company; it’s the one thing that I have that keeps me close to her memory.

Poornima: Memories will always remain in our hearts Nachiket. But we must think about the future too.

Drishti raises a brow and then gets her vicious face on.

Drishti: You should listen to your wife Nachiket ji. I mean after all, it’s not like the dead are going to come back to life.

Nachiket looks up when he hears this and so does Poornima.

Drishti: I mean the people who’ve left us have left us, what’s the point of holding on to their memories. The only good those memories can do for us is help us make some profit. And you stand to profit quite a bit out of this deal. Who cares whether or not your dead mother’s memories are attached to this company? You should consider yourself lucky to be inheriting off her even after she’s gone to the great beyond.

Nachiket is angry now.

Nachiket: Drishti ji, you’re a guest in my home so I would prefer to refrain from saying anything out of line to you but I would appreciate it if you didn’t talk about my mother that way.

Drishti: Oh I’m sorry did I say something I shouldn’t have? You seemed to have no problem with your wife saying you should sell the company.

Poornima: What is that supposed to mean?

Drishti: It means that your husband is alright with his wife saying that he should sell his mother’s legacy but when it comes from an outsider, he suddenly feels bad.

Poornima: I only meant that…

Drishti: Relax Poornima ji, relax. I’m on your side here. I’m in total agreement with you. Of course he should sell. He can buy another mother with the amount he’ll mint out of it.

Nachiket: DRISHTI JI!

Drishti: Please don’t raise your voice at me Mr. Nachiket Agnihotri. I may be blunt and direct but at least I don’t have double standards like you. If I were in your shoes I would sell. You know why? Because I believe that money makes the world go round and dead men tell no tales. But you… you can’t seem to decide between selling your mother’s legacy and keeping it. Your suffering with a question that you should be able to answer in one breath. I may be a bitch but at least I’m principled as such and I don’t change like the weather for anyone or anything. You can’t decide between what is black and what is white. Sell if you want or keep your company if you wish, doesn’t make a difference to me, not like I’m making any money out of this.

Drishti scoffs and walks away.

Poornima: Are you alright?

Nachiket: No I’m not alright! Who the hell does that woman think she is to talk to me that way? How dare she!!! This company is not just another business deal for me. It is my mother’s blood, sweat and tears! I will not part with it just because I can make a quick buck off it.

Poornima: Nachiket…

Nachiket: That is my final decision and I sure as hell hope you will support me on this.

Poornima: I… well… if that is what you want.

Nachiket: It is.

Poornima: Ok.

Nachiket walks off in a rage and Poornima looks confused but she is also angry. She decides to go after Drishti who has gone to see Urvashi.

Drishti: Any luck with talking to your nephew about the sale Urvashi ji?

Urvashi: He seemed a bit skeptical but I’m sure he’ll come around.

Drishti: He does seem rather attached to the company doesn’t he?

Urvashi: Well it was his mother’s company and the people in this house are so based on emotion sometimes it kills me.

Drishti looks to her side and sees Poornima approaching. She thinks to herself…

Drishti: Now’s the perfect time to play the same game you played with me all over again Urvashi.

Not too far away from Chandra Mahel… Rajind pulls up outside Chopra Mansion. He looks at it as he gets out of his car and he thinks to himself….

Rajind: This is the only other place I could come to in order to find the answers I’m looking for. I only hope Ashvini Bhabi will be willing to talk to me about what happened all those years ago. Well… here I go.

Episode 428

Kurukshetra – Episode 428

Manasvi stands facing everyone in the room and she looks quite upset.

Manasvi: I hate the fact that we’re all fighting over this. I know that something bad almost happened but the truth of the matter is it didn’t. Yes I am shocked to hear the truth of my birth and I wish that someone would have said something to me sooner. But at the same time, I can’t deny the fact that Soumil Agnihotri is the only father I have known all my life.

Manisha detests this statement.

Manasvi: Dadi, if you hadn’t shown up today then I would have spent the rest of my life knowing for certain that this man is my father and no one else. But even after you’ve said what you’ve said, I can’t bring myself to believe it. Chandra Mahel is my home, this is my family. This is my mother and my father. I’m not a Kapoor, I’m an Agnihotri and that’s how I will continue to live. I hope you understand.

Manisha is angry.

Manisha: These people have brainwashed you with their lies. Let me tell you about who these so called parents of yours really are…

Katya almost opens her mouth to say something when…

Manasvi: You’ve said all you wanted to. I don’t want to hear anymore. I just want you to leave. Please.

Manasvi looks at her parents and although she doesn’t smile at them, the two of them breathe a sigh of relief. She walks out of the room and Manisha turns to Soumil and Katya.

Manisha: This isn’t over, I hope you know that.

She too turns on her heel and walks out. When she reaches the great hall, Urvashi is sitting there waiting for her.

Urvashi: What happened, Jethani… ji?

Manisha: Don’t look so smug Urvashi. I’ll be back and when I do come back I will take my granddaughter away from all of this.

Urvashi: Well now you can just do whatever the hell it is you please. I’ve got nothing else to lose anyway.

Manisha: Good bye for now, Devrani… ji.

Manisha storms out of Chandra Mahel and Urvashi covers her face in her hands.

Urvashi: Stupid, stupid woman! The truth about Manasvi’s paternity was all I had going for me to keep Katya and Soumil in my grip. But now…

Just then Soumil and Katya walk in.

Soumil: We have something we want to say to you.

Urvashi looks up.

Soumil: Katya and I have decided to move to the Thakral Mansion since no one is occupying it at the moment.

Urvashi: You can’t just leave like that, what about the company? Anirudh is in New Zealand and I don’t know when he plans on coming back and now…

Soumil: You still have Nachiket and Dushyanth and Aksh and Rajind… They’ll help. I’m thinking about going back to my old business.

Urvashi stands up in a rage.

Urvashi: You can’t do that to me!

Katya: And what about everything you’ve been doing to us for all these years? Every day it was a case of Choti Ma this and Choti Ma that and what did you give us in return?

Urvashi: I cannot believe that…

Katya: Please Choti Ma, we’ve heard enough. Our decision is final. We’re leaving. Come on Soumil.

The two of them walk off and Urvashi looks pissed off. Later that night… Krithika is fast asleep but she is having a bad dream, only it’s not a dream but a flashback. She sees herself walking up to Kartik’s room and knocking on the door. She sees herself knocking over and over again.

Krithika: Dad… Dad… where are you Dad?

At that moment Rajind wakes up and looks at her.

Krithika: I have to tell Dad what’s going on. I have to tell him about what’s going on.

Rajind: Krihtika.

Krithika: Dad… Nakshatra is in trouble.

Rajind: Krithika…

Krithika: Dad open the door! Dad please open the door. Nakshatra is in trouble, they’ll kill him. She’ll kill him.

Rajind touches Krithika’s shoulder and she jumps up…

Krithika: NOO!!!

Rajind: Krithika it’s alright, you’re at home, you’re safe, you’re with me.

Krithika: Water.

Rajind quickly gets out of bed and brings her a glass of water. She drinks it all up and then lies down again. Not too long after she falls asleep. Rajind thinks to himself…

Rajind: Why is she talking about Nakshatra? What is going on in her head?

Then he has a flashback of his own…

Krithika: DON’T SHOUT AT ME! Nakshatra called me before he died! He told me everything on the phone… that’s when I called the police to send them to help him… That’s why I went looking for Dad… but it looks like you got him out of the way too…

End flashback…

Rajind: What if Krithika was telling the truth all those years ago? What if she wasn’t really losing her mind? What if she was right about Choti Ma? It can’t be true… no… no mother is capable of killing her own child. But… what if she did?

Then he has another flashback…

Krithika: Tell them… tell them how you made a deal with Rauktima Di… tell them how you made her convince Dad to marry you because you knew where Ashvini Bhabi was holding Shastra. Tell them!

End flashback…

Rajind: Choti Ma denied all those allegations and none of it was ever proved. Besdies, if Rauktima Di had actually made a deal with Choti Ma like Krithika was talking about, then it’s possible that Aksh would have known about it. But then again it’s also possible that he didn’t know… if he knew of such a thing he would have never kept it to himself. But just because he didn’t know about it that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen either. And the other thing is… no one really knew how Rauktima Di found Ashvini Bhabi in the end. But Aksh was with her when she found the baby… so he must know something. I have to find out what he knows. I have to know the truth.

The next day… Drishti comes back to Chandra Mahel. She walks in and sees Urvashi sitting in the great hall looking upset.

Drishti: Urvashi ji… I’m back.

Urvashi: Drishti ji… I didn’t hear you come in.

Drishti sits down.

Drishti: What’s wrong? You look upset.

Urvashi: Oh it’s nothing.

Drishti: Can’t be nothing. You can tell me if something is wrong.

Urvashi: Actually… there was a bit of a showdown here after you left.

Drishti: Oh? How come?

Urvashi: My Jethani arrived from Australia.

Drishti: Really?

Urvashi: Yes, she’s the mother of Manasvi’s biological father. She turned things upside down for me.

Drishti: Oh no… I hope things have returned to normal though.

Urvashi: They haven’t… Soumil and Katya have left Chandra Mahel with Manasvi. They’ve also left the company.

Drishti smiles to herself but quickly becomes sympathetic towards Urvashi.

Drishti: Not to worry Urvashi ji. Everything will be alright.

Urvashi: How can I even begin to think things are alright? Anirudh has gone to New Zealand and Soumil has left the house… They were my key pillars of support.

Drishti: But the rest of your family is with you. Besides, after the Amsterdam project is through, you won’t need any of them.

Urvashi looks up at Drishti when she hears this.

Drishti: What I mean is, you will be so successful, you can hire people with far superior qualifications to your nephews and your life will be sorted, you’ll be working with some of the biggest names from around the world. Then it will be all about you, you will rule supreme Urvashi ji.

Urvashi smiles at this and Drishti sees the greed in her eyes. Drishti thinks to herself…

Drishti: Now that I’ve got Soumil Bhaiyya and Anirudh away from you, it’s time to focus on the next target.

She leans back in her chair and then aloud she says…

Drishti: Urvashi ji there was another matter of business I wanted to discuss with you.

Urvashi: Oh?

Drishti: One of our investors is being very fussy about his contribution to this whole thing. He is asking that each of the partners double their spend on the project. I’m willing to do it of course because it’s no big deal for me, but I have to think of my other partners like you for example.

Urvashi: Well I’m sure I won’t have any issues with doubling my spend on the project, especially since I know it will be a success.

Drishti: Of course. But there is a way we can all keep our investments just the way they are and better yet, you can make some money out of it as well.

Urvashi: How is that?

Drishti: Well he’s informed me that he has interest in one of our subsidiaries. He wants to buy it off you.

Urvashi: Which one?

Drishti: The Singhania Group of Companies.

Urvashi is surprised to hear this.

Urvashi: But why that company?

Drishti: He says that he used to work closely with your late Jethani Mrs. Sangeeta Agnihotri and that before she passed away he was about to do a deal with her to buy the company and then… well anyway, when he heard that you were involved in this project he realized that the company is now a subsidiary of Agnihotri Incorporated and he is suggesting that he buy it off you.

Urvashi goes into deep thought.

Drishti: Think about it Urvashi ji, especially since he’s willing to pay triple the amount of your investment in the Amsterdam project for the company. None of the other partners will be benefiting off it and you would have spent absolutely nothing. You will be up on the deal even before the Amsterdam project starts.

Urvashi’s eyes are gleaming.

Urvashi: There is some paper work that I have to go through and I have to speak with Nachiket about this but tell your friend that we’ll be ready to sell in no time.

Drishti: See, this is why I like doing business with you. You see what you want and then you go after it. Not a lot of people are like you Urvashi ji. Thank goodness you’re on our side.

Urvashi laughs.

Drishti: I’m really tired now so if you don’t mind I’m going upstairs to rest. Will you let me know when we can work on the final details of selling Singhania?

Urvashi: Of course.

Drishti: Alright then, I’ll see you later.

Drishti walks away and Urvashi leans back in her chair with a smile on her face.

Urvashi: So what if Soumil and Anirudh are no longer here? No one can sink Urvashi Agnihotri. Triple the amount of my investment. Brilliant. I’ll be part of this project at literally no cost and then I’ll benefit off the profit of it as well. Now I’ll have to think of a crafty way to tackle Nachiket. But that shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

And in Drishti’s room… She’s thinking to herself…

Drishti: You may see this as a deal of a lifetime Urvashi but you don’t know that you’re digging your own grave. If you knew the relationships of this house half as well as you ought to then you’ll know that that company is the legacy Sangeeta Chachi left Nachiket. When you ask him to part with it, you’ll be paving the way for him to part with you.

Episode 427

Kurukshetra – Episode 427

Manasvi walks into the middle of the conversation and looks petrified.

Katya: Manasvi… when did you…

Manisha looks pleased.

Manisha: Manasvi…

Urvashi: Uh… what are you doing home so early?

Manasvi: I forgot some stuff so I came back.

Urvashi: I see… well go and get your stuff. We’re having a grown up discussion here.

Manasvi hesitantly turns to leave when.

Manisha: Hold on just a minute.

Manasvi stops.

Manisha: Aren’t you going to introduce us, Devrani… ji?

Urvashi: Uh… yes of course… she uh… Manasvi, this is Manisha, your father’s Chachi.

Manisha: Yes, I’m your adopted father’s Chachi.

Katya stares daggers at Manisha.

Manisha: And I’m your real father’s mother.

Manasvi looks confused.

Manasvi: Real father?

Katya: Manasvi, go get your things.

Manisha: She’s not going anywhere until she hears the entire truth.

Soumil: Chachi don’t do this.

Manisha: I think we’re a bit beyond that now. Manasvi, Soumil is your mother’s second husband. She was married before, to my son, Soorya Kapoor. You are Soorya’s daughter, not Soumil’s.

Manasvi looks like she’s been hit by a thunderbolt.

Manasvi: What are you saying? This is my Dad. I don’t know any Soorya Kapoor.

Urvashi: Exactly. Jethani ji, what are you saying?

Manisha: I’m saying what is true.

Katya: Stop this nonsense.

Manisha: This isn’t nonsense. This is the truth. Your mother was pregnant with you when she decided to…

Soumil: CHACHI!

Manisha: What’s the matter Soumil? I’m just educating this child on her family’s history.

Katya: Manasvi go to your room.

Manasvi: Mom I…

Katya: I said go to your room!

Manasvi runs upstairs. Katya turns to Manisha in a rage.

Katya: Family history? Do you really want to talk family history with me? Weren’t you the one who showed up at this doorstep pregnant before marriage?

Manisha: Katya!

Katya: It’s very easy to point fingers at others but when the finger is pointed at you then it’s very difficult to bear isn’t it? Isn’t it?

Manisha: You can say what you want to say but I’m taking Manasvi with me and that’s that.

Katya: And I’m saying to you for the last time, my daughter isn’t going anywhere! Do you hear me?

Katya turns on her heel and rushes upstairs.

Soumil: You’ve done a very bad thing Chachi. I will never forgive you for this.

Soumil heads upstairs as well. Urvashi blows some air out of her mouth and turns to Manisha.

Urvashi: Now that we’ve established the fact that you can’t keep your mouth shut you might as well have some tea or would you like something cool instead?

Manisha: Do you have any coffee?

Urvashi: Ramdas! Bring Manisha Madam some coffee and make me a cup too while you’re at it. I think we’re both going to need it.

Meanwhile in Manasvi’s room she looks distraught. Both Katya and Soumil walk in.

Soumil: Manasvi…

She looks up at them and stands up.

Manasvi: What is going on here? What is that woman saying? Who is she really?

Katya: Manasvi please listen to me.

Manasvi: I don’t want to listen to anything you have to say if you’re going to tell me that what she said is true.

Soumil: Sweetheart please try and understand…

Manasvi: Understand what Dad? Are you saying that you really aren’t my father?

Katya: Manasvi… this man who’s standing before you is your father in every sense of the word do you hear me?

Manasvi: Then who is Soorya Kapoor?

Katya: He’s a son of this family, just like your father.

Manasvi: And is he my real father?

Katya: I…

Soumil: Listen we’ll just…

Manasvi: Stop avoiding the question! Is he or is he not my real father?

Katya: Yes he is!

Manasvi looks shocked.

Katya: He is your biological father yes.

Manasvi: Mom what are you saying?

Katya: Listen to me. You don’t have to think about him you don’t even have to know him. He was gone away from our lives long before you were even born. Soumil is the one who took care of you, who brought you up, who stayed up with you late in the night when you were ill, he is your real father, not Soorya.

Manasvi: Mom all these things you’re talking about doesn’t mean a thing to me if you’ve lied to me about who I am all these years. I’m not even an Agnihotri.

Soumil: Manasvi don’t say that…

Manasvi: I feel as though I don’t even know the two of you anymore.

She runs out of the room.

Katya: Manasvi!

Soumil: Let her go. She needs some time to herself.

Katya: What are we going to do?

Meanwhile… back downstairs… Urvashi and Manisha are having coffee…

Urvashi: So how did you find out about the attempted kidnapping again?

Manisha: I received an anonymous phone call.

Urvashi: That’s strange. That’s the second anonymous phone call that’s been made to your house in the past month.

Manisha: Well I don’t really care about that. All I care about is my granddaughter’s safety. I’m taking her back with me one way or the other.

Urvahsi: Even if she doesn’t want to go?

Manisha: We’ll see about that. This is good coffee by the way.

Urvashi: Thank you, I had it specially flown in from Paris.

Manisha: I didn’t know there were a lot of coffee drinkers there.

Urvashi: Neither did I. Can I get you something to eat?

Manisha: No I’m not that hungry.

Urvashi: So that’s how you maintain this figure at this age.

Manisha gives Urvashi a sarcastic look.

Manisha: Age? How old do you think I am?

Urvashi: Well I would assume you were older than me.

Manisha: And how old would you be?

Urvashi: Younger than you.

Manisha: You’re avoiding the question Devrani… ji.

Urvashi: Avoidance is a good thing; I wish you’d learned it sooner in life, Jethani… ji.

They both sip on their coffee without another word. Meanwhile… Dushyanth is spending time with Krithika in her room.

Dushyanth: Look at what’s happened to us Didi. Did you ever think we’d live to see this day? When we were teenagers all of you used to want to do all kinds of fun things all the time and all I wanted to do was sit in a corner and sulk. When we grew older everyone wanted a piece of the family business and all I wanted to do was my own thing. But all those seem like such small things I’ve faced in life compared to what it has become today. Look at us now, all of you are trapped in a different world by the same force and I seem to be the only one who’s free. But not even I can help you. I wish you would get better soon Didi… you know us brothers can’t do a thing without our sisters. We miss you. Look at that Anirudh Bhaiyya, it took him this long to realize that he wasn’t spending enough time with his family. Poor Manasvi was almost kidnapped. And Poornima Bhabi… she’s just the limit, I don’t know how Nachiket Bhaiyya has put up with her all these years. Didi… please say something.

He stops for a moment and stares at Krithika but she looks distant. Dushyanth shakes his head. Then he stands up to leave… then suddenly…

Krithika: I have to tell Dad.

Dushyanth turns around slowly and looks at her.

Dushyanth: What did you say?

Krithika: I have to tell Dad.

Dushyanth: What do you need to tell him?

Krithika: I have to tell him the truth, before it’s too late.

Dushyanth: What truth? Krithika Di, what truth do you have to tell him? Talk to me.

Krithika: Nakshatra…

Dushyanth’s eyes go wide.

Dushyanth: Nakshatra… what about Nakshatra? Didi… Didi…

But Krithika has gone back to looking lost. Dushyanth thinks to himself…

Dushyanth: What does Krithika Di know about Nakshatra that she wants to tell Kartik Chachu?

Meanwhile… Soumil and Katya are consoling each other in their room when Manisha walks in.

Manisha: Where is Manasvi?

Soumil: She is none of your concern.

Manisha: Look Soumil I’m too old to play games with you. Give me my granddaughter and I’ll be on my way.

Katya: You had no right to come here and do what you did. You can’t just play with someone’s life like that. How dare you just tell her that Soumil is not her father?

Manisha: Well he’s not.

Katya: Yes but to her he is.

Manisha: Well the truth was bound to come out sooner or later and once she meets Soorya she will feel much better. I plan on taking her away from the daily drama here at Chandra Mahel just like I took the rest of my family away from here.

Katya: That is not your decision to make. Besides if Soorya really wanted to see his daughter then he would have come here himself.

Manisha: After all the pain this family put him through, I don’t think so.

Soumil: This family never put him through any pain.

Manisha: Right. I don’t think even you believe that.

Katya: Soorya is the one who put this family through pain.

Manisha: Don’t you dare turn your filth on my son!

Katya: I made a mistake but I never crossed my limits. Your son decided to find comfort in the arms of a prostitute or have you forgotten that part of the story? He left here not even knowing that I was pregnant with his child. I would have been lost if Soumil hadn’t decided to marry me and bring this child up as his own.

Manisha: Oh what a tragedy.

Katya: You know you’re pretty good at showing up here and shooting your mouth off and claiming rights to all sorts of relationships. Where were you when I was pregnant with your granddaughter? Where were you when she was born? Where were you all these years when she was growing up? We have done everything for Manasvi as her parents and you and your son haven’t even bothered to pick up the phone and check up on how she was. Now you’re here because you received some phone call that told you about her attempted kidnapping? That’s very rich.

Manisha is growing very angry now.

Manisha: As much as I would enjoy tearing you apart in this battle of words you have going here, my time is precious, too precious to spend on a lose woman like yourself.

Soumil: Watch it Chachi! You’re talking to my wife.

Manisha: She was my Bahu first.

Soumil: And what a pity you didn’t know how to keep it that way.

Manisha: You listen to me…

But she is unable to complete her sentence when Manasvi walks back into the room.

Manasvi: Please stop fighting. I have something to say to all of you. I know you all have my best interests in mind but I can think for myself and I have decided on what I want.

All three look at Manasvi as the tension builds.

Double Dhamaka – Episodes 425 & 426

Kurukshetra – Episode 425

The next day, Krithika is sitting on the terrace staring into space when Drishti walks in. She sees Krithika from a distance and then looks around to see if anyone else is there. She then walks over to her and sits down.

Drishti: Krithika?

Krithika continues to stare into space.

Drishti: Krithika I don’t have a lot of time but I need to say something to you. I’m really happy that you’re back home and guess what, so am I. It’s me Krithika… your Rauktima Di.

Krithika continues to stare into space.

Drishti: I’m sorry about what happened when you came into the house. I’m doing something very important right now. I’m on a mission to rid our family of the curse that has been placed on it. The curse whose name is Urvashi! Look at what she’s done to you, what she’s done to all of us. I’m going to get us out of this mess. I’m going to teach her a lesson and I’m going to avenge each and every one of us. I need you to be brave for me ok. I need you to not be upset if I say mean things to you because I will. That’s the only way I’ll be able to stay clear of Urvashi’s radar and continue this act as Drishti. There is so much I have to do in this short time and knowing that you are here makes things so much easier for me. She killed Nakshatra and sent Kartik Chachu to jail for something he didn’t do. I promise you she will be punished for that and I will bring Kartik Chachu back home and Chandra Mahel will be the place it has always been. But for now your Rauktima Di has to stay dead for everyone’s sake ok. Be strong little sis. Everything will be ok soon.

She gets up to leave and as she does she feels a tug on her sari. She smiles and turns back but sees that her sari has just got caught on the edge of the chair. She removes her pallu slowly and then walks off. When she has left the terrace, Krithika turns around to look at where she went…

Meanwhile… Manasvi arrives at college. The people who are watching her on Urvashi’s command are keeping close watch. Just then some other people come over and light cigarettes near their car. The men inside the car try to keep watch but see that these other people are blocking their view. One of the men puts his head out of the car.

Man1: Hey get out of the way.

The people standing outside don’t pay him any attention. At the same time, another man approaches Manasvi and tries to grab her.

Manasvi: Hey!

She screams as she turns around. The man tries to advance on her and she starts to run. He follows her. The men sitting in the car notice Manasvi running and get out of the car. The other people block their path and a fight ensues. Manasvi continues to run and the man continues to follow her.

Manasvi: Stop following me you creep!

Manasvi runs as fast as she can and she almost falls over but she catches her balance and continues to run. She takes a turn and just then a white van appears out of nowhere, the door flings open and some people grab Manasvi and throw her in. The van drives off and the man who is following her stops in his tracks. Back at the car park the fight stops and the people who arrived there make a run for it. The men who were supposed to watch over Manasvi start looking around. Meanwhile… the thug who was after Manasvi calls Drishti.

Drishti: Hello?

Thug: Madam, did you order a van to pick the girl up?

Drishti: No I thought you people were doing that.

Thug: Well we were supposed to and a van picked her up but I’m not sure if it’s our van.

Drishti: What? Well look for it you idiot! I want that girl back home safe do you understand?

Thug: Yes Madam.

He hangs up and Drishti looks nervous. Meanwhile… one of the men in charge of looking for Manasvi takes out his phone and calls Urvashi.

Urvashi: Hello?

Man: Madam, we’ve had a small problem.

Urvashi: What sort of problem?

Man: Well some thugs came over to the car and we got into a little fight and now we’ve lost your granddaughter.

Urvashi: WHAT? Well what are you doing talking to me? Find her you fool! I want her back home safe!

Man: Yes Madam!

He hangs up and Urvashi looks annoyed. Back at the scene of the encounter, both parties are looking for Manasvi and the van that took her. Suddenly the same van appears out of nowhere, the door opens and they throw Manasvi out. The Thug who was sent by Drishti sees this and almost goes over to her but then he sees the Men who were sent by Urvashi going over to her. Manasvi gets off the ground and sees the men coming toward her.

Manasvi: Stay where you are!

Man1: It’s ok, it’s ok your Dadi sent us to watch over you.

Manasvi: How do I know you’re telling the truth?

Man1: We’ll call her right now and you can talk to her yourself.

Manasvi looks skeptical and the man quickly takes his phone out and calls Urvashi.

Man1: Madam, we found her. She wants to talk to you.

Urvashi: Put her on.

The man gives the phone to Manasvi.

Manasvi: Hello?

Urvashi: Manasvi are you alright?

Manasvi: I’m fine now Dadi but I someone tried to kidnap me.

Urvashi: What? Never mind just get into the car with the men who are with you, they will bring you home.

Manasvi: Ok.

She hangs up and then leaves with the two men. Meanwhile the Thug calls Drishti.

Drishti: What happened?

Thug: The van came back and threw her out.

Drishti: Thank God!

Thug: But I’m still not sure if it was the van we organized.

Drishti: Well find out and let me know.

Thug: Yes Madam.

They hang up and Drishti looks relieved.

Drishti: Thank God Manasvi is alright. But now the fireworks will start. Not long after Manasvi arrives at Chandra Mahel and goes running inside.

Manasvi: MOM! MOM!

At that moment Katya comes running out of her room. She goes downstairs and Urvashi goes down as well.

Katya: Manasvi, what is it?

Manasvi: Mom, the most horrible thing happened.

Katya: What? What happened?

Manasvi: I was walking into college and then this horrible looking man started to follow me and I ran as fast as I could but then this van came out of nowhere and they tried to kidnap me and…

Katya: What?

Urvashi: But you’re alright now aren’t you?

Manasvi: Well… I don’t know… I just kicked and screamed and scratched and they drove around the block a few times and then threw me out.

Katya: Oh my goodness… we have to call the cops.

Urvashi: Now, now there’s no need for that.

Katya: How can you say that? My daughter was almost kidnapped.

Urvashi: Yes but they let her go.

Katya: She got lucky!

Urvashi: Katya come on. My people were watching her and…

Katya: Is that why someone managed to swoop her away with such a lot of ease? Is that why she was almost kidnapped? I should have known that you would never stick to your word. I have stood by you just like I promised I would but you have broken your promise to me today.

Urvashi: Now listen, that’s not fair.

Katya: What’s not fair is that you think you can do whatever you want whenever you want and that the rest of us will just continue dancing to your tune. I’m done with you. I told you that if anything happened to Manasvi that I would end our little deal and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Urvashi: Katya…

Katya: No I’m done talking to you. Come on Manasvi.

Katya leads Manasvi away and Urvashi holds her head. She then sees the two men she put in charge of Manasvi and walks up to them. She slaps them both hard across the face.

Urvashi: You imbeciles! Do you have any idea what could have happened today? Do you? Get out of my sight and don’t show your faces here again!

The two of them leave and Urvashi is frothing mad. Drishti has observed all of this from her secret hideout. She thinks to herself…

Drishti: Mission accomplished.

Just then her phone rings. She looks at the number and sees that her thug is calling back.

Drishti: Tell me.

Thug: Madam, the van wasn’t sent by us.

Drishti: What are you talking about? If you didn’t send the van then who did?

Thug: We don’t know.

Drishti: Well that’s not good enough, find out!

Thug: Ok. We’ll keep in touch.

The line goes dead and Drishti thinks to herself again.

Drishti: So someone really is after Manasvi and whoever it is got very close to getting her today. But who could this be? Thank God she’s safe or I would never have been able to forgive myself for what happened.

Not long after… Soumil arrives home. He goes straight upstairs to his room and finds both his wife and daughter there.

Soumil: Is everything alright?

Katya: Everything is fine now.

He rushes over to Manasvi and hugs her.

Soumil: What happened?

Manasvi: Some people tried to kidnap me but I managed to get away.

Soumil turns to Katya.

Soumil: What is the meaning of all this?

Katya: Soumil, I didn’t want to alarm you with any of this but…

Soumil: Alarm me? My daughter was almost kidnapped today!

Katya: I know…

Soumil: What are you not telling me?

Katya: Well at first there were these phone calls and… then someone sent me some photographs of Manasvi that were taken at the college and…

Soumil: Someone has been stalking her all this time and you chose to hide it from me?

Katya: I told you I didn’t want to alarm you!

Soumil: I’m her father! This sort of thing is supposed to alarm me! How could you hide this from me? What precaution did you think you can take?

Katya: I didn’t, which is why I went to Choti Ma and asked her for protection.

Suddenly things sink into Soumil’s head.

Soumil: Wait a minute, this wouldn’t have something to do with your change of behavior would it?

Katya remains silent.

Soumil: Oh my goodness! That does it!

Soumil storms out of the room.

Katya: Soumil!

Manasvi: Mom where is he going?

Soumil storms through the house and arrives at Urvashi’s room.

Soumil: You!

Urvashi: Soumil, is there something I can help you with?

Soumil: I have had just about enough of you do you hear me!

Urvashi: What is going on?

Soumil: You made a deal with my wife on my daughter’s safety? You bought her vote in return for protecting Manasvi? Everything is about what works out best for you isn’t it? Everything is about you! Anything could have happened to Manasvi today and all you seem to care about is yourself! You know what? I’m through with you!

Kurukshetra – Episode 426

Urvashi is stunned at Soumil’s behavior.

Urvahsi: Put your voice down and don’t forget whom you’re talking to.

Soumil: I know whom I’m talking to and I also know that I’ve had it with you.

Urvashi: Watch what you say Soumil.

Soumil: I’m through with sucking up to you and keeping up pretenses with you and watching you tear this family apart. I’m just so ashamed of myself because I had to wait till this long to figure things out. I’m pulling out of the business and I’m re-joining the Thakral Business and if need be I will move out of this house do you hear me.

Just then Katya comes running in as well.

Katya: Soumil don’t do this…

Soumil: Just shut up and stay out of this. You should have known better than to go to this woman. All she cares about is herself. That’s all she’s ever cared about. We’re leaving, do you hear me Choti Ma? We’re leaving!

Soumil turns to go and then…

Urvashi: Wait.

He stops and Katya looks over to Urvashi. She talks with a cold calm tone.

Urvashi: How dare you walk into my room and assume you can take that tone of voice with me. How dare you think you can just decide to walk out and that I will let you. You’re not going anywhere Soumil.

Soumil turns around, anger dripping from his eyes.

Soumil: What are you going to do to stop me?

Urvashi: Well if I can’t stop you then I can’t stop you but I can make a phone call to Australia and ask Soorya if he would like to come to Chandra Mahel and visit his daughter!

Both Soumil and Katya are shocked by this.

Katya: You wouldn’t…

Urvashi: Oh come on, you know me better than that. Of course I would. If you decide to leave Chandra Mahel and Agnihotri Inc. then be rest assured that your daughter will know the truth about her birth. I will make it happen Soumil. So the decision is yours.

Soumil: You heartless…

Urvashi: Spare me the profanity. It’s been a long day for all of us. You’ve all been through a lot. Take a shower get something to eat and let’s resume life normally shall we? Now get out of my room and the next time, knock before you walk in.

Both Soumil and Katya know that Urvashi means business. So they silently leave the room and close the door behind them. Urvashi shakes her head disdainfully. But unknown to all of them, Drishti has been listening to all this in secret.

Drishti: I said it before and I will say it again. Everyone in this family is going to have to face their past sooner or later. If Anirudh and Jaya could have faced what they did and survived it then surely, Soumil Bhaiyya and Katya Bhabi can too. Urvashi is only making threats because she knows that’s the only way to maintain control. But Drishti won’t make any threats, Drishti simply does… The time has come for the next thunderbolt to hit Chandra Mahel.

Meanwhile… the cousins have gathered in Manasvi’s room.

Shastra: How are you feeling now?

Manasvi: Better Didi.

Geet: So you didn’t get a good look at those guys?

Manasvi: No Bhaiyya I was too busy kicking and screaming. All I wanted to do was escape.

Shubh: But who would do such a thing?

Manasvi: I don’t know but according to what I gathered from Mom and Dad’s conversation, this has been going on for some time now.

Shubh: That’s just crazy.

Shastra: But who would do such a thing?

Geet: I hate to say it but the past few days have shown us that there’s a lot we don’t know about our family’s past.

Shubh: It is rather unsettling isn’t it?

Manasvi: But seriously though guys, I’m ok now. Thanks for being so concerned.

Shastra: Of course we’re concerned. Things seem to be spinning at an ungodly rate these past few days. I hope Nikhil is ok.

Geet: I’m sure he will be.

Later that day… Drishti goes to see Urvashi.

Drishti: Urvashi ji.

Urvashi: Come in Drishti ji. What is it?

Drishti: I have to fly off to Amsterdam urgently to sign the final documents of the deal. Once that is done we can move ahead with our project.

Urvashi: That is excellent news. So will you be coming back to Chandra Mahel when you get back to India?

Drishti: Well I don’t know… there’s so much going on here and I don’t want to be in the way.

Urvashi: Nonsense. You’re not in the way.

Drishti: Yes well my work in Delhi is not quite complete yet. But if it is a bother I can check in to a hotel on arriving back.

Urvashi: Don’t be silly. You have to stay here. You’re like family now.

Drishti: Thank you so much. I’ll be back in a few days.

Urvashi: Alright then. Have a safe flight.

Drishti: Thanks.

Drishti walks out of the room and thinks to herself…

Drishti: Leaving in the middle of all this is very important. This will help evade suspicion. But just because I’m gone doesn’t mean you won’t have your hands full Urvashi. I’ve already set the next time bomb in place and it will explode at any minute.

The next day… Drishti has left and everything at Chandra Mahel seems to be moving along at a calm pace… But as we all know, at Chandra Mahel, nothing stays calm for long. The doorbell rings. Urvashi is at the breakfast table by herself.

Urvashi: Ramdas. See who’s at the door.

Ramdas rushes to the door and opens it. He smiles when he sees the person standing outside.

Ramdas: Oh my goodness, Madam, you’re here?. It is so good to see you after all these years. Please come inside.

The woman at the door walks inside and looks around Chandra Mahel. She then makes her way towards the breakfast table. Urvashi doesn’t look up.

Urvashi: Who is it Ramdas?

Woman: What’s the matter? Don’t I deserve a welcome?

Urvashi slowly puts her paper down and looks up. She stands up as soon as she sees who’s standing in front of her.

Urvashi: You? What are you doing here?

Woman: I’m here to see my granddaughter.

Urvashi feels a lump get stuck in her throat. She moves away from the table and walks over to the woman.

Urvashi: What the hell are you talking about? You know you’re not supposed to address her as such. These are family secrets that must be kept that way.

Woman: For whose benefit? Yours or mine?

Urvashi: For all our benefit.

Woman: Listen Urvashi, the best interest of this family may be your concern but it certainly isn’t my concern. My only concern is my family and Manasvi is a very important part of that family. After all she’s not just anyone, she’s Manisha Kapoor’s granddaughter!

And with that Manisha turns away from Urvashi to look around at Chandra Mahel once more. She walks over to the great hall and smiles. Manisha is dressed in pale colors. She too has aged but very gracefully. She has very light jewelry on and has her pallu over her shoulder. Her hair is tied in a bun and she has no grays. Urvashi walks into the great hall as well.

Manisha: I have to admit Devrani ji, you’ve done a good job with this house. It doesn’t look like the old relic it used to.

Urvashi: Takes a lot of effort to keep it that way, Jethani ji.

Manisha turns to face Urvashi.

Manisha: I want to see Manasvi. Where is she?

Urvashi: She’s not at home right now.

Manisha: Well then I’ll see her when she gets back.

Urvashi: You’re planning on staying that long?

Manisha: As long as it takes to convince her to come back to Australia with me.

Urvashi: What? And why would she do that?

Manisha: Because that’s where she belongs, with her father and her grandmother.

Urvashi: Listen… Jethani… ji, this is Manasvi’s home and this is exactly where she’s going to stay.

Manisha: Oh I think we should leave that option to her don’t you think… Devrani… ji?

Urvashi starts panicking… She thinks to herself…

Urvashi: If this Yashoda Maiyya opens her big mouth in front of Manasvi and reveals the truth about her paternity then I lose my grip over Soumil and Katya. I have to get her out of here one way or the other before Manasvi gets back home.

Just then Soumil walks in and is shocked to see Manisha.

Soumil: Chachi? What are you doing here?

Manisha: I’m here to collect my granddaughter.

Soumil: What?

Manisha: You heard me Soumil. I’m here to take Manasvi back to Australia with me.

Soumil: You have no right to do that.

Manisha: Of course I do. A paternity test will prove that Manasvi is not your daughter but Soorya’s. And as Soorya’s mother, I have all the right to take Manasvi with me.

Soumil: Manasvi is my daughter.

Manisha: Stop living in a fantasy world Beta. Just because we say the sky is orange doesn’t mean it is does it? Likewise, just because you say you’re Manasvi’s father doesn’t mean you are.

At that moment Katya walks in.

Katya: Soumil has every right to call himself Manasvi’s father.

Manisha sees Katya and narrows her eyes.

Manisha: Come, come, come… you were the only member of this panel discussion that was missing.

Katya: There will be no discussion. Manasvi isn’t going anywhere.

Manisha: We’ll see about that.

Katya: There is nothing left to see. This is her home and we are her parents.

Manisha: Everyone is allowed to have a little bit of bad blood in them, so I have no choice but to accept that you are Manasvi’s mother my dear, but Soumil is not her father. Unless… there’s something you’re not telling us.

Katya looks shocked.

Manisha: I mean we all know that the two of you were lovers long before you got married.

Katya: How dare you…

Manisha: Shut up! Don’t forget that I’m still your elder in this house and that means you talk to me with respect. And as for you Soumil, maybe taking other people’s dirty laundry into your backyard is what you do, but let it go now. Raising a girl child isn’t easy and you’ve managed quite well in the past years but… I hear that Manasvi was almost kidnapped.

Urvashi: It’s like there’s a BBC channel attached directly from Delhi to Australia. If someone sneezes in this house someone from your house comes running in to save the day. How noble of all of you.

Manisha: Urvashi, this doesn’t concern you, why don’t you go do something that is worth your while.

Urvashi: Everything that happens in this house concerns me Manisha… Bhabi.

Manisha: Fine, then when Manasvi comes home you can tell her the truth and we can be on our way.

Soumil: This is not a game, we’re talking about my daughter’s life.

Manisha: And I keep reminding you that she is not your daughter.

Soumil: Maybe not by blood. But in every other sense I am the only father that girl has known and I won’t let your arrogance dictate the terms of her life do you hear me?

Manisha: I’m sorry Soumil but I’m not leaving this house till I have told Manasvi the truth. I’m not leaving until I have told her that you are not her real father. Your just the man her mother left her father for.

Katya: You know that’s not how things happened.

Manisha: You know, I never really liked you as my Bahu and knowing that you are the mother of my grandchild makes me feel a lot worse. Could you please shut that trap of yours for a little while so I can talk to someone sensible about this issue?

Katya: Manasvi is my daughter and she’s not going anywhere.

Manisha: Manasvi is my granddaughter and she is coming with me.

Urvashi: Manasvi…

Everyone looks at Urvashi and then follows her gaze to see Manasvi at the front door.

Promo – Next Week

Drishti: Hello?

Urvashi: Hello?

Two phone calls…

Thug: Madam, did you order a van to pick that girl up?

Man: Madam, we’ve had a small problem.

One disaster…

Man: We’ve lost your granddaughter!

Urvashi: WHAT?

Thug: A van picked her up but I’m not sure if it’s our van.

Drishti: WHAT?

What happens next is anyone’s guess… Next week, on Kurukshetra.

Episode 424

Kurukshetra – Episode 424

A bottle of champagne is popped open and it overflows. Urvashi pours both herself and Drishti a glass each as the two of them lean back in their chairs on the terrace to have a drink.

Urvashi: To the best laid plans of mice and men.

Drishti: Don’t you mean, to the best laid plans of Urvashi and Drishti?

They both laugh. Urvashi has a sip of her drink.

Urvashi: Oh Drishti ji I can’t begin to tell you how good I feel right now. After all these years the Agnihotri Empire is finally mine and I would never have gotten my hands on it if it weren’t for you.

Drishti: Nonsense. You would have thought of something eventually.

Urvashi: Eventuality pales in comparison to immediate effect does it not?

Drishti: True that.

They laugh again and then Drishti gets serious.

Drishti: There’s one thing I don’t understand Urvashi ji.

Urvashi: What’s that?

Drishti: How were you able to convince Ankita ji to sign over everything to you so easily? I mean it’s not like she would have signed the papers based on trust. I mean, no offense but she knows she can’t trust you.

Urvashi: You’re absolutely right, which is why I used my Badi Bahu to do the job for me.

Drishti: I still don’t understad.

Urvashi: You see, Katya gave Ankita a very convincing statement about me and why I should be the one in charge in her absence.

Drishti: Really? So your Badi Bahu and you get along well then I suppose.

Urvashi: Not at first but then circumstances lead her to ask for my help and now I have her in the palm of my hand.

Drishti’s ears pick up and she looks all gossipy as she has a sip of her drink.

Drishti: Oooh… sounds interesting. Is she in involved in some scandal?

Urvashi laughs.

Urvashi: Oh nothing of the sort. No, Katya’s weakness is her daughter.

Drishti: That girl… what’s her name…

Urvashi: Manasvi.

Drishti: That’s right.

Urvashi: Someone’s been calling Katya and threatening to harm Manasvi. They’ve made it very clear that they mean business too.

Drishti: Really? How?

Urvashi: They took pictures of Manasvi you see and sent it to Katya.

Drishti: Oh my. And you have no idea who this is?

Urvashi: No but I have my people following Manasvi and keeping a close eye on her and in return, Katya is my little hand puppet.

Drishti: That is brilliant thinking.

Urvashi: I know. When opportunity like this knocks we’d be foolish not to take advantage don’t you think?

Drishti: You’re absolutely right Urvashi ji.

And Drishti thinks to herself…

Drishti: You’re absolutely right. You have no idea the kind of opportunity you’ve given me to make my next move. You’ve lost Jaya’s support and pretty soon you would have lost Nikhil and Anirudh as well… now let’s focus on Katya Bhabi, your biggest supporter.

The next morning Jaya is arranging some things in her room when suddenly the door opens and Nikhil walks in. He looks pale.

Nikhil: Mom…

Jaya turns around to look at him and is instantly shocked.

Jaya: Oh my goodness! Nikhil, what’s wrong?

She rushes over to him and catches him before he falls.

Jaya: Nikhil… what’s wrong son? What’s wrong?

Nikhil: Mom… I… feel like… I… I…

Jaya: Come here. Sit down. It’s ok. RAMDAS!!! RAMDAS!!! Sit down, it’s ok. Tell me what’s wrong.

Moments later Ramdas comes running into the room.

Ramdas: Yes Madam?

Jaya: Bring me a glass of water, hurry!

Ramdas: Yes Madam!

Ramdas rushes off. He heads downstairs and pours the water and is rushing back up when Anirudh walks in and sees him.

Anirudh: Ramdas? What’s the hurry?

Ramdas: I think Nikhil Baby is not feeling well. He’s with Jaya Bahu, she wanted me to bring some water.

Ramdas rushes off and Anirudh heads upstairs as well. Back in the room…

Jaya: Tell me what’s wrong.

Nikhil: Mom, I feel horrible. I can’t take it anymore. I need…

Jaya: You don’t need anything do you hear me!

Just then Ramdas walks in with the water. He gives it to Jaya who then gives it to Nikhil. Anirudh has also made his way up. Ramdas takes the empty glass and heads out. Anirudh watches from outside the room.

Jaya: Nikhil… Nikhil look at me!

Nikhil looks at Jaya and his eyes have sunken in and he is perspiring like mad.

Jaya: You can fight this. You are a strong boy do you hear me?

Nikhil: I don’t know if I can Mom… I don’t know.

Jaya: Of course you can and do you know why? Because you come from strong people. We are all there for you Nikhil. We are all here.

Anirudh: Your mother is right Nikhil.

Both of them are shocked to see Anirudh standing at the door. He walks in and sits down next to Nikhil and Jaya.

Anirudh: We’re all here for you and you can get through this. You need to be strong.

Nikhil: I don’t think I can Dad! All I can think of is shooting up.

Anirudh: You don’t need to do that to beat this. You are stronger than that.

Jaya: We will get you help. We will take you to a rehabilitation centre. We will be there with you every step of the way and you will be fine do you hear me? Do you hear me?

Nikhil: Yes… Mom…

Jaya: Anirudh we have to do something now. Call a doctor, call someone, call anyone.

Anirudh: Calm down. Everything will be fine. I’ll ask Dushyanth what to do.

Jaya: Ok.

Anirudh gets up to leave and Jaya holds Nikhil close to her. Minutes later Anirudh is in Dushyanth’s room.

Anirudh: Hi, do you have a minute to spare.

Dushyanth: Sure, what’s up?

Anirudh: It’s Nikhil. He needs help.

Not too long after, the doctor has come in and is checking on Nikhil. He finishes and then comes out.

Anirudh: How is he?

Doctor: He’s better now but I’m afraid it’s going to take more than the medicine I gave him to get him out of this. His weakness is in his head and so he needs help that is beyond me. You better look into it fast Mr. Agnihotri.

Anirudh: We will doctor, thank you. I’ll see you out.

The two of them leave and Jaya turns to Dushyanth. She puts her hands together in front of him and Dushyanth is a bit taken aback.

Jaya: Thank you for calling the doctor.

Dushyanth: Bhabi please I…

Jaya: My son needs help Dushyanth and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make sure he gets it. Please help him.

Dushyanth sees the pain in her eyes and he softens up. He holds her hands and then puts them down.

Dushyanth: You don’t need to beg family for help Bhabi.

Jaya: But after everything I’ve said and done to you…

Dushyanth: That’s the other thing about family, no matter what we say and do, we always come through in the end. I’ll make a few calls to the rehabilitation centre in New Zealand. Simran Aunty is still there so she might be able to help as well. I’ll be back.

Jaya: Thank you… Thank you so much.

Anirudh comes back upstairs.

Jaya: Dushyanth is calling the rehabilitation centre in New Zealand. He says that they will be able to help Nikhil.

Anirudh: That’s great.

Jaya: If Nikhil has to go there then I want to go with him.

Anirudh: I won’t let you go alone. I’ll come with you.

Jaya starts crying.

Anirudh: Hey… it’s going to be ok.

Jaya: It’s not that.

Anirudh: Then what?

Jaya: I’m so sorry for everything Anirudh.

Anirudh: Jaya please…

Jaya: No I mean it. I should have told you the truth, I shouldn’t have done what I did. I’m so ashamed of myself. I’m so sorry.

Anirudh walks over to her and hugs her.

Anirudh: Tell me one thing. Do you love me?

Jaya: How could you even ask that? I love you more than anything else in the world.

Anirudh: That’s all I need to know, because I love you too and from now on, no more secrets ok. The past is behind us and we’re going to face the future together, as a family.

The next day, all arrangements have been made and Anirudh is discussing company matters with Soumil and Nachiket.

Anirudh: And that’s all you need to know. I shouldn’t be gone for too long.

Soumil: It’s alright. You take your time.

Nachiket: We know how important this is for you.

Just then Urvashi walks in.

Urvashi: But clearly no one thought about how important it is for you to be here at this time Anirudh.

They all turn to face her.

Anirudh: Choti Ma… I need to go to New Zealand with Nikhil and Jaya. They need me.

Urvashi: I’m sorry but I need you more.

Anirudh: I understand but this is my family and I need to be there for them.

Urvashi: Like they’ve been there for you? Don’t be silly Anirudh, you’re not going anywhere.

She tries to turn to leave but…

Anirudh: I’m sorry Choti Ma. If it comes down to business versus my family then I pick my family. I’m nothing without them. I need to do this and I will.

Urvashi: You do understand that you will be disobeying a direct order from me?

Anirudh: I’m not your servant Choti Ma, I’m your nephew, but if that’s how you see it then yes, I do understand what I’m doing.

Urvashi: I don’t think you quite understand the gravity of this situation Anirudh. I’m telling you now, if you leave Chandra Mahel under any circumstance, then don’t bother coming back.

Anirudh: If that’s what you want then that’s how it will be. But that’s something I’ll have to think about when I get back from New Zealand.

Urvashi: This is insane.

Anirudh: No, you are insane to think that any business can come above my family. I’m sorry.

Anirudh walks off and Urvashi is in a temper. Meanwhile… Drishti is on the phone with some of her people.

Drishti: Manasvi leaves the house at 8 in the morning and fifteen minutes later she’s dropped off at her college. There is a vehicle that follows her at close proximity. I want you to distract the men in that vehicle and stage an attempted kidnapping. Then release the girl and vanish. Do you understand? And make sure of one thing. No harm must come to her ok? Ok.

She hangs up and then tosses her phone aside. She looks into the mirror and smiles.

Episode 423

Kurukshetra – Episode 423

Most of the people at the breakfast table get up and leave one by one until only Soumil, Katya, Anirudh, Jaya, Urvashi, Ankita and Ruhan remain. Drishti over to one of the wings and looks down at the conversation that is taking place.

Ruhan: So what’s it going to be Ankita? Chandra Mahel or your home?

Ankita: Ruhan don’t do this. You know Chandra Mahel is my home.

Ruhan: See now that doesn’t make me feel very good because I thought your home was with me.

Ankita: It is.

Ruhan: Then come back to it.

Ankita: But I can’t just leave everything here and…

Ruhan: Why? You’ve fought enough battles for this house and I’ve had no problem with it in the past but every time you come here you forget that you’ve built a world outside of this place. Suddenly you’re dragged back into this drama that you supposedly left behind years ago.

Ankita: Of course my home is with you but I have duties to fulfill to this house as well.

Ruhan: Like what? Running the Agnihotri Empire? In case you’ve forgotten you’re not an Agnihotri anymore.

Ankita: Ruhan, Krithika has just come back home from the mental facility and when she is well enough I will leave her in charge and…

Ruhan: And when is that going to be? A week from now? Two weeks? A month? A year? How long Ankita? Hmmm? How long?

Ankita: I don’t know.

Ruhan: And you didn’t think about this before agreeing to take over things from Bua ji? Didn’t you think about me and the life we’ve built together? Damn it Ankita how could you be so selfish?

Urvashi tries very hard to hold back her glee.

Urvashi: I think you’re being a bit too harsh Doctor. Ankita isn’t selfish. She just has her family’s best interest in mind.

Ruhan: Then I suppose she should leave that to you, don’t you think?

Urvashi: Well I’d be more than happy to take over but…

Ankita: Ruhan please, this is just something I have to do.

Ruhan: Really? Fine. I won’t stop you or stand in your way then.

Ankita: Really?

Ruhan: Really. But I do have a condition.

Ankita: Which is?

Ruhan: You maybe able to divide yourself in two and take on all this responsibility at the same time but I can’t live like that. So make a decision right now Ankita. Where do you want to live? Delhi or Bangalore? Chandra Mahel or Goenka House? Your Maayka or your Sasural?

Ankita feels her head spinning and she looks around at the others trying to make sense of what is going on.

Ruhan: You need to make up your mind, right here, right now. You have to know that you can’t keep doing this. I don’t know why you’ve decided to take this on and I’m sure you have extremely legitimate reasons but I don’t want to know any of them. I just want to know one thing. Will you come back home or live here in Chandra Mahel.

Ankita: You’re giving me an ultimatum?

Ruhan: Yes I am.

Ankita looks at Urvashi and her eyes narrow. She feels the blood rushing to her head.

Ankita: I…

She turns back to Ruhan.

Ankita: I’m not willing to put Urvashi in charge of things here.

Ruhan: Why not? She handled everything else here all these years didn’t she? What makes you think she can’t do it now?

Ankita: That is not the point.

Ruhan: Then what is? Please fill me in.

Ankita is searching for the words to explain her predicament to her husband but she can’t seem to find them.

Ruhan: What is your problem with Urvashi? Why do you think she won’t be able to handle things here?

Urvashi: That’s something I would like to know as well.

Ankita: Anirudh… will you help me out here please?

Anirudh: Sorry Mom, I’d rather not get involved. Unlike you, I prefer staying out of other people’s marital issues.

Anirudh walk away and Jaya looks upset. Urvashi touches Ankita on the shoulder.

Urvashi: You think I’m not the right person to take over because you think I don’t treat this family right, don’t you?

Ankita stares daggers at Urvashi.

Urvashi: Well let me put your mind at ease.

Urvashi turns to Katya.

Urvashi: Badi Bahu… you’ve lived in this house for the past twenty years where Ankita hasn’t. What is your take on this situation?

Katya feels as though she’s been taken off guard but she knows why Urvashi is asking her what she’s asking. She clears her throat and then turns to Ankita.

Katya: Chachi, I know you feel as though you need to stay here and protect us, but the truth is you don’t. Choti Ma has taken good care of us throughout the years and she has seen to all our needs. Our children are well educated and the business is flourishing and we’re on the verge of making another huge deal with Chakra International and I think all of this speaks for itself. I don’t see a problem with you putting Choti Ma in charge.

Ankita gives Katya a strange look and so does Jaya.

Ruhan: See, what more proof do you want? You are the only one who thinks of Urvashi as a threat to this house. So make your decision now Ankita. Today is the day we decide on this once and for all. You either stay or you come back with me. What’s it going to be?

Ankita is lost for words and everyone waits for her to make her decision. She walks over to the mandir and looks inside. She waits for a while and finally turns to face everyone.

Ankita: Alright. Alright I’ll go.

Ruhan: And you will sign over your responsibilities to Urvashi?

Ankita is skeptical about this.

Ankita: I… well…

Urvashi: You heard what you wanted to hear Ankita. I’m not the devil. I’ve taken care of this house so long, I will continue doing so in the future.

Ankita: Fine. Soumil call the lawyer and have the papers drafted. But I want it clearly said that Urvashi has power of attorney until Krithika is back to a healthy state of mind. After that, she will take over.

Soumil: As you wish Chachi.

Soumil walks off.

Urvashi: Do you need help packing Ankita or…

Ankita: Thank you. I can do it myself.

Ankita storms off. Urvashi smiles to herself. Katya leaves as well. From upstairs Drishti looks confused and starts thinking to herself.

Drishti: Something is not right with this picture. Why would Katya Bhabi praise Urvashi the way she did? And why did Urvashi specifically ask her for her opinion on the situation? This can mean only one thing. Urvashi has something on Katya Bhabi. But what? I’ll have to find out.

Meanwhile inAnkita’s room… she’s packing her things when Urvashi walks in.

Urvashi: I guess you’re leaving then.

Ankita: Please get out of my room.

Urvashi: Well actually, since you’re about to sign everything over to me, I can walk in and out of any room that I please inside this mansion.

Ankita: I swear to you Urvashi, I’m going to watch you like a hawk from today onwards. If you do anything to any one of my family members I will come back and I will get you, even if I have to sacrifice my marriage to do so.

Urvashi: It’ll never come to that Ankita.

Ankita: For your sake, I hope not.

Urvashi turns to leave but then turns back again.

Urvashi: Oh by the way… now that you’re leaving, you might want to hand those keys over to me, don’t you think?

Ankita looks livid. But she takes the keys out ever so slowly and stretches them out. Urvashi grabs them off her and tosses them up in the air.

Urvashi: Thanks. I’ll see you around… or maybe not.

Urvashi walks out of the room and Ankita is furious. Not long after… in Soumil and Katya’s room… Soumil leans against a wall and watches his wife put things away in their cupboard.

Soumil: So you still want to tell me that nothing is going on with you?

Katya: What? What are you on about?

Soumil: I was talking about that heartfelt speech you gave about Choti Ma downstairs. What was that all about?

Katya: I didn’t say anything wrong did I?

Soumil: Well I don’t know about that but let’s be honest Katya, you’ve never been a big fan of Choti Ma. Why the sudden change of heart?

Katya: I was only thinking of the best suited outcome for both Ankita Chachi and Chandra Mahel.

Soumil: And you think Choti Ma is the answer to our prayers?

Katya: Well you’ve certainly had no issues placing your trust in her all these years.

Soumil: That’s different, that’s business.

Katya: So is this.

Katya leaves the room and Soumil tries to make sense of what she’s saying but he can’t. Later, Ankita goes to see Anirudh in his room.

Ankita: The papers are almost here and once I sign them I’ll be leaving.

Anirudh: Ok.

Ankita walks inside and stands next to her son.

Ankita: I know you’re mad at me. I know that you’re looking back at the past and wondering what was real and what wasn’t. But you have to understand one thing Anirudh, I’m your mother and I’ve always only wanted what was best for you. If I had thought for one moment that Jaya would have done something she shouldn’t have, then I would have told you the truth along time ago. But when I looked into her eyes I saw nothing but love for you and I still see it in her eyes today. I wasn’t wrong about her, she’s been there for you hasn’t she? And after what you went through with Sanskriti I knew that something like this would have devastated you.

Anirudh: And you think it hasn’t now? It’s only made it worse knowing that I didn’t know this truth for so long Mom.

Ankita: I know. But Sanskriti was full of wicked intentions and she used all of us to try and get what she wanted. Jaya wasn’t like that. She was just trying to do her duty; admittedly she went about it all wrong but if this family could have forgiven Sanskriti for what she did then I don’t see why we can’t forgive Jaya. Especially when she has had way more love to offer all of us. Just think about it ok.

Ankita squeezes Anirudh’s shoulder and then walks out. He turns to look at her as she leaves and then nods his head.

Later that day… the papers have finally arrived and Ankita takes a deep breath and signs on them. Urvashi raises a brow as Ankita hands the papers over to her.

Ankita: There… it’s done.

Urvashi: Thank you for this.

Ruhan: Shall we go then?

Ankita: Yes. I just need to say good bye.

Ankita walks around the room and everyone takes her blessing as she says bye to them one by one. Finally she comes to Jaya. She holds her by her arms and smiles at her.

Ankita: You must continue to be as strong as I once knew you were. This house needs you, this family needs you, your son needs you and whether my son wants to admit it or not, he needs you too. He loves you a lot and he’ll come around. It’s going to be ok.

Jaya: Thank you Mummy ji.

Ankita: Just promise me one thing. Promise me that you will stand up for your rights and fight those who want to keep you down. I think you have a pretty good idea of who is your own and who isn’t in this house now. Remember, when you can solve the issue with love then give it all the love you’ve got. But when love fails you, then use force and don’t be afraid of it.

Jaya: I will do my best Mummy ji.

Ankita: Good.

Jaya takes her blessing and Ankita wipes away a tear. She smiles and looks around at Chandra Mahel one more time before walking out with Ruhan. Urvashi looks at the papers and smiles an evil smile.

Episode 422

Kurukshetra – Episode 422

It’s early evening and everyone anxiously awaits Krithika’s arrival. Urvashi and Drishti are sitting at a far corner of the great hall reading magazines. Suddenly, Rajind comes running in.

Rajind: She’s here. Everyone she’s here.

Everyone stands up. Urvashi places her magazine aside and heads over to join the family. Drishti slowly looks up from the magazine she’s reading. At the main entrance we see Akarsha in plain sight. She smiles at everyone broadly and then moves aside every so slowly. Behind her we see someone else with her head bowed down. She’s dressed in a plain black sari and he hair is loosely tied with strands on her face. She has no makeup on. Her eyes are slightly sunken in. Drishti sees this and gets up from her chair in shock. The figure at the door finally raises her head. It’s Krithika.

Everyone continues to stare at her with a look of shock on their faces. Drishti almost crushes the magazine in her hand but manages to control herself. Aindri walks over to Krithika.

Aindri: Oh my goodness… my child. Look at what’s happened to you.

Krithika doesn’t react at all. She simply stares blankly at Aindri. Everyone watches Krithika, especially the new generation who’ve never seen her before. Ankita walks over to her.

Ankita: Krithika, let me introduce you to your nieces and nephews. Come with me.

Ankita leads Krithika by the hand and takes her around the room. She introduces a very blank Krithika to Shastra and Shubh and then Manasvi and Nikhil. She then brings her over to Geet, who is the only one who can remember her.

Geet: Maasi… how are you?

Krithika looks up at him. She stares at him for a while and then places her hand on his head. Ankita and Geet smile at this. So do her brothers. Drishti is moved. Ankita is taking Krithika to meet the others when suddenly she looks up and sees Drishti. Krithika starts to feel uneasy… She moves her head to aside and looks closer. She then starts to walk over to Drishti. She gets real close to Drishti, who is fighting the urge to reach out and hug her. Krithika stares at Drishti and there are flashes in her head. She keeps seeing incomplete images. She then holds her face in her hands and gets all worked up. The others are confused. Finally… Krithika screams…

Krithika: DIDI!

And with that she throws her arms around Drishti and hugs her. Everyone is shocked at this and no one knows how to react or what to do. Drishti is half inclined to hug her back when she sees Urvashi from the corner of her eye. Drishti thinks to herself…

Drishti: God… please forgive me for what I’m about to do.

Then in one quick move, she pushes Krithika away from her.

Drishti: What’s the meaning of this? If you people can’t control this madwoman then why did you bring her here?

Ankita walks over to her.

Ankita: I’d ask you to have a heart but clearly that’s not possible. Can’t you see she’s remembering her sister?

Drishti: So who asked her not to?

Ankita: She thinks, like the rest of us did when we first saw you, that you are Rauktima.

Drishti: And how is this my fault? The rest of you I can make understand but this mental case is beyond the parameters of understanding.

Ankita: DRISHTI JI! Do not forget that you are a guest in this house.

Drishti: And any guest should be treated like a God, not like some prop to help save the mentally retarded! Urvashi ji, what’s the meaning of this.

Urvashi walks over to them.

Urvashi: I’m extremely sorry Drishti ji it’s just that…

Drishti: What? Just that what? I’m telling you now, for the sake of our partnership in the future, keep this insane woman away from her. Who knows when she’ll decide to jump on me next? Thank God this sari wasn’t that expensive, what if I was wearing some precious jewels and she ruined them with her craziness? Huh?

Urvashi: I assure you Drishti ji, it won’t happen again.

Drishti looks annoyed and storms off. Krithika continues to stare at her. Ankita moves her away and Rajind comes and takes her hand.

Rajind: Come on Krithika. Let’s go to our room.

Rajind leads Krithika away. Aindri walks over to Urvashi and Ankita.

Aindri: I can’t bear to see much more of this. I have the paperwork done and ready. Let’s sign them in the library.

Ankita: Yes Bua ji.

Aindri: Akarsha and I will be leaving immediately. Our flight is tonight. Come on.

The three of them go away and the rest of the family looks devastated. Meanwhile in Drishti’s room… She is breaking down like crazy.

Drishti: What sort of torture is this? My Krithika… my little sister. She used to come running to me with every little problem she had. We’ve seen both the best and worst of times together in this house and today, I saw her after twenty years and I couldn’t even hug her. God please forgive me. Please forgive me. Please forgive me. This is all your fault Urvashi… and I will never forgive you for this. Never.

And in the library… Aindri signs on the dotted line transferring everything into Ankita’s name. Ankita looks up at Urvashi and she simply nods.

Aindri: Actually now that this is done, I can rest a little easy. Ankita, make sure Krithika is well taken care of. I must leave you now and head back to Australia. Good bye Urvashi.

Urvashi: See you soon Bua ji.

Aindri: For both our sakes I hope not.

Aindri walks out of the library and Ankita picks up the papers.

Ankita: Wow, so this is what it feels like to own everything. Too bad you don’t know what that feels like huh?

Urvashi: Oh that’s alright. You know what they say, nothing lasts forever.

Ankita: I’m glad you’re getting used to philosophy. It’ll help you a lot in the future.

Ankita smiles and walks out of the room and Urvashi thinks to herself.

Urvashi: Smile all you want darling because tomorrow, you’ll be doing exactly what Bua ji is doing right now; packing your bags.

Later that evening… In Rajind and Krithika’s room there is a knock on the door. Rajind goes to open it and he sees Manasvi and Nikhil.

Rajind: Hi, what are you guys doing here.

Manasvi: We came to have a chat with Krithika Bua. Is that alright?

Rajind: Of course. Come on in.

The two of them walk in and see Krithika sitting on the bed looking distant. They go and sit next to her.

Nikhil: Hi Bua… how are you? I’m Nikhil.

Manasvi: And I’m Manasvi… It’s good to have you home. Poopa ji has really missed you.

Nikhil: We all have. I mean, not that we knew you before but… you know what we mean.

Krithika looks at them and there is a mild smile on her lips. The two youngsters look at each other and smile back at her. Manasvi walks over to Rajind.

Manasvi: How are you holding up?

Rajind: I’m good. I’m really happy that Krithika is home. I feel like there’s so much of life the two of us have missed out on. I’m going to make it all better.

There is another knock on the door. Rajind goes to see who it is. He is surprised to see Ankita there.

Rajind: Chachi? Can I help you?

Ankita: Is someone else in there with you?

Rajind: Just Manasvi and Nikhil.

Ankita: Then come outside for a moment, I need to talk to you.

Rajind: Ok.

Rajind jars the door and walks out.

Ankita: Rajind, I wanted to apologize for all the things I said about you.

Rajind: Forget it Chachi. It’s all in the past.

Ankita: I know that. But you need to know why I did what I did. You see, I knew about what Urvashi was planning on doing.

Rajind: What do you mean?

Ankita: I mean after she got the power of attorney transferred to you, I knew what she was going to do next, get you to transfer everything to her.

Rajind looks down when he hears this.

Ankita: And I also knew that she was using Krithika as a bargaining chip in all of this. So I had to do something. I had to make sure she kept to her word and got Krithika back home while at the same time ensuring she didn’t get her hands on all this. So I had to say the things I said, otherwise she would have suspected something. So I’m really sorry for the way I sounded and I hope you understand why I did what I did.

Rajind smiles at her.

Rajind: I do Chachi and thank you for doing it. I’m just glad Krithika is back home.

Ankita: I’m glad too. Now let’s work on getting her back to her usual self shall we?

Rajind: Yes.

Ankita places her hand on Rajind’s head and then walks away. Rajind goes back into the room and sees Manasvi and Nikhil with Krithika. He decides to just stand back and watch them from afar…

The next morning everyone has gathered together at breakfast. Anirudh sits down to eat and Jaya goes to serve him but he puts his hand out and stops her. She is hurt but she moves on. Suddenly they all hear a car come to a screeching halt outside the house. They all turn to the front door and then look at each other. Urvashi smiles to herself and continues to eat.

Soumil: Who could that be?

Moments later the answer to Soumil’s question walks through the front door. Doctor Ruhan Goenka comes inside Chandra Mahel and doesn’t look pleased at all. Ankita sees him and stands up.

Ankita: Ruhan… what are you doing here?

Ruhan: Funny you should ask.

He walks inside and then over to the dining table.

Urvashi: Good morning doctor, would you like to join us for some breakfast.

Ruhan: I’m not hungry thank you.

Ankita: Ruhan you didn’t even tell me that you were coming… I would have…

Ruhan: You would have what? Made arrangements for me to move back to Delhi?

Ankita gives him a strange look.

Ruhan: That is what you were planning on doing right?

Ankita: What are you talking about? Why would I do that?

Ruhan: Oh I don’t know Ankita you seem to do a lot of things without consulting me. I assumed you might have already done this as well.

Ankita: Ok I don’t know what has gotten into you but if you want to talk, this is not the place to…

Ruhan: Why is this not the place? I think this is the perfect place.

Ankita: Ok fine then if you have a problem let’s hear it.

Ruhan: My problem, Ankita, is that you can’t seem to let go of this house.

Ankita is taken aback by this.

Ankita: What?

Ruhan: Don’t play dumb with me. I’m aware of the fact that Bua ji put you in charge of the Agnihotri Empire.

Ankita is shaken to hear this and then gives Urvashi a very subtle look. Urvashi stands up at this point and walks over to them.

Urvashi: But Doctor, Ankita is a daughter of this house after all, there is nothing wrong with what has happened.

Ruhan: You’re wrong Urvashi ji. This would have been alright if Ankita didn’t have other responsibilities, like a husband and a home in Bangalore.

Ankita: Ruhan please… what are you saying?

Ruhan: I’m saying that the time has come for you to make up your mind once and for all.
