Kurukshetra – Episode 427
Manasvi walks into the middle of the conversation and looks petrified.
Katya: Manasvi… when did you…
Manisha looks pleased.
Manisha: Manasvi…
Urvashi: Uh… what are you doing home so early?
Manasvi: I forgot some stuff so I came back.
Urvashi: I see… well go and get your stuff. We’re having a grown up discussion here.
Manasvi hesitantly turns to leave when.
Manisha: Hold on just a minute.
Manasvi stops.
Manisha: Aren’t you going to introduce us, Devrani… ji?
Urvashi: Uh… yes of course… she uh… Manasvi, this is Manisha, your father’s Chachi.
Manisha: Yes, I’m your adopted father’s Chachi.
Katya stares daggers at Manisha.
Manisha: And I’m your real father’s mother.
Manasvi looks confused.
Manasvi: Real father?
Katya: Manasvi, go get your things.
Manisha: She’s not going anywhere until she hears the entire truth.
Soumil: Chachi don’t do this.
Manisha: I think we’re a bit beyond that now. Manasvi, Soumil is your mother’s second husband. She was married before, to my son, Soorya Kapoor. You are Soorya’s daughter, not Soumil’s.
Manasvi looks like she’s been hit by a thunderbolt.
Manasvi: What are you saying? This is my Dad. I don’t know any Soorya Kapoor.
Urvashi: Exactly. Jethani ji, what are you saying?
Manisha: I’m saying what is true.
Katya: Stop this nonsense.
Manisha: This isn’t nonsense. This is the truth. Your mother was pregnant with you when she decided to…
Soumil: CHACHI!
Manisha: What’s the matter Soumil? I’m just educating this child on her family’s history.
Katya: Manasvi go to your room.
Manasvi: Mom I…
Katya: I said go to your room!
Manasvi runs upstairs. Katya turns to Manisha in a rage.
Katya: Family history? Do you really want to talk family history with me? Weren’t you the one who showed up at this doorstep pregnant before marriage?
Manisha: Katya!
Katya: It’s very easy to point fingers at others but when the finger is pointed at you then it’s very difficult to bear isn’t it? Isn’t it?
Manisha: You can say what you want to say but I’m taking Manasvi with me and that’s that.
Katya: And I’m saying to you for the last time, my daughter isn’t going anywhere! Do you hear me?
Katya turns on her heel and rushes upstairs.
Soumil: You’ve done a very bad thing Chachi. I will never forgive you for this.
Soumil heads upstairs as well. Urvashi blows some air out of her mouth and turns to Manisha.
Urvashi: Now that we’ve established the fact that you can’t keep your mouth shut you might as well have some tea or would you like something cool instead?
Manisha: Do you have any coffee?
Urvashi: Ramdas! Bring Manisha Madam some coffee and make me a cup too while you’re at it. I think we’re both going to need it.
Meanwhile in Manasvi’s room she looks distraught. Both Katya and Soumil walk in.
Soumil: Manasvi…
She looks up at them and stands up.
Manasvi: What is going on here? What is that woman saying? Who is she really?
Katya: Manasvi please listen to me.
Manasvi: I don’t want to listen to anything you have to say if you’re going to tell me that what she said is true.
Soumil: Sweetheart please try and understand…
Manasvi: Understand what Dad? Are you saying that you really aren’t my father?
Katya: Manasvi… this man who’s standing before you is your father in every sense of the word do you hear me?
Manasvi: Then who is Soorya Kapoor?
Katya: He’s a son of this family, just like your father.
Manasvi: And is he my real father?
Katya: I…
Soumil: Listen we’ll just…
Manasvi: Stop avoiding the question! Is he or is he not my real father?
Katya: Yes he is!
Manasvi looks shocked.
Katya: He is your biological father yes.
Manasvi: Mom what are you saying?
Katya: Listen to me. You don’t have to think about him you don’t even have to know him. He was gone away from our lives long before you were even born. Soumil is the one who took care of you, who brought you up, who stayed up with you late in the night when you were ill, he is your real father, not Soorya.
Manasvi: Mom all these things you’re talking about doesn’t mean a thing to me if you’ve lied to me about who I am all these years. I’m not even an Agnihotri.
Soumil: Manasvi don’t say that…
Manasvi: I feel as though I don’t even know the two of you anymore.
She runs out of the room.
Katya: Manasvi!
Soumil: Let her go. She needs some time to herself.
Katya: What are we going to do?
Meanwhile… back downstairs… Urvashi and Manisha are having coffee…
Urvashi: So how did you find out about the attempted kidnapping again?
Manisha: I received an anonymous phone call.
Urvashi: That’s strange. That’s the second anonymous phone call that’s been made to your house in the past month.
Manisha: Well I don’t really care about that. All I care about is my granddaughter’s safety. I’m taking her back with me one way or the other.
Urvahsi: Even if she doesn’t want to go?
Manisha: We’ll see about that. This is good coffee by the way.
Urvashi: Thank you, I had it specially flown in from Paris.
Manisha: I didn’t know there were a lot of coffee drinkers there.
Urvashi: Neither did I. Can I get you something to eat?
Manisha: No I’m not that hungry.
Urvashi: So that’s how you maintain this figure at this age.
Manisha gives Urvashi a sarcastic look.
Manisha: Age? How old do you think I am?
Urvashi: Well I would assume you were older than me.
Manisha: And how old would you be?
Urvashi: Younger than you.
Manisha: You’re avoiding the question Devrani… ji.
Urvashi: Avoidance is a good thing; I wish you’d learned it sooner in life, Jethani… ji.
They both sip on their coffee without another word. Meanwhile… Dushyanth is spending time with Krithika in her room.
Dushyanth: Look at what’s happened to us Didi. Did you ever think we’d live to see this day? When we were teenagers all of you used to want to do all kinds of fun things all the time and all I wanted to do was sit in a corner and sulk. When we grew older everyone wanted a piece of the family business and all I wanted to do was my own thing. But all those seem like such small things I’ve faced in life compared to what it has become today. Look at us now, all of you are trapped in a different world by the same force and I seem to be the only one who’s free. But not even I can help you. I wish you would get better soon Didi… you know us brothers can’t do a thing without our sisters. We miss you. Look at that Anirudh Bhaiyya, it took him this long to realize that he wasn’t spending enough time with his family. Poor Manasvi was almost kidnapped. And Poornima Bhabi… she’s just the limit, I don’t know how Nachiket Bhaiyya has put up with her all these years. Didi… please say something.
He stops for a moment and stares at Krithika but she looks distant. Dushyanth shakes his head. Then he stands up to leave… then suddenly…
Krithika: I have to tell Dad.
Dushyanth turns around slowly and looks at her.
Dushyanth: What did you say?
Krithika: I have to tell Dad.
Dushyanth: What do you need to tell him?
Krithika: I have to tell him the truth, before it’s too late.
Dushyanth: What truth? Krithika Di, what truth do you have to tell him? Talk to me.
Krithika: Nakshatra…
Dushyanth’s eyes go wide.
Dushyanth: Nakshatra… what about Nakshatra? Didi… Didi…
But Krithika has gone back to looking lost. Dushyanth thinks to himself…
Dushyanth: What does Krithika Di know about Nakshatra that she wants to tell Kartik Chachu?
Meanwhile… Soumil and Katya are consoling each other in their room when Manisha walks in.
Manisha: Where is Manasvi?
Soumil: She is none of your concern.
Manisha: Look Soumil I’m too old to play games with you. Give me my granddaughter and I’ll be on my way.
Katya: You had no right to come here and do what you did. You can’t just play with someone’s life like that. How dare you just tell her that Soumil is not her father?
Manisha: Well he’s not.
Katya: Yes but to her he is.
Manisha: Well the truth was bound to come out sooner or later and once she meets Soorya she will feel much better. I plan on taking her away from the daily drama here at Chandra Mahel just like I took the rest of my family away from here.
Katya: That is not your decision to make. Besides if Soorya really wanted to see his daughter then he would have come here himself.
Manisha: After all the pain this family put him through, I don’t think so.
Soumil: This family never put him through any pain.
Manisha: Right. I don’t think even you believe that.
Katya: Soorya is the one who put this family through pain.
Manisha: Don’t you dare turn your filth on my son!
Katya: I made a mistake but I never crossed my limits. Your son decided to find comfort in the arms of a prostitute or have you forgotten that part of the story? He left here not even knowing that I was pregnant with his child. I would have been lost if Soumil hadn’t decided to marry me and bring this child up as his own.
Manisha: Oh what a tragedy.
Katya: You know you’re pretty good at showing up here and shooting your mouth off and claiming rights to all sorts of relationships. Where were you when I was pregnant with your granddaughter? Where were you when she was born? Where were you all these years when she was growing up? We have done everything for Manasvi as her parents and you and your son haven’t even bothered to pick up the phone and check up on how she was. Now you’re here because you received some phone call that told you about her attempted kidnapping? That’s very rich.
Manisha is growing very angry now.
Manisha: As much as I would enjoy tearing you apart in this battle of words you have going here, my time is precious, too precious to spend on a lose woman like yourself.
Soumil: Watch it Chachi! You’re talking to my wife.
Manisha: She was my Bahu first.
Soumil: And what a pity you didn’t know how to keep it that way.
Manisha: You listen to me…
But she is unable to complete her sentence when Manasvi walks back into the room.
Manasvi: Please stop fighting. I have something to say to all of you. I know you all have my best interests in mind but I can think for myself and I have decided on what I want.
All three look at Manasvi as the tension builds.
