Kurukshetra – Episode 433

Drishti: Tell me what?

Dushyanth looks away and Urvashi looks down. Drishti turns to Sanjeev.

Drishti: Tell me what Sanjeev?

Sanjeev: Dushyanth and I… a long time ago, we used to be lovers.

Drishti’s eyes go wide and she looks at Dushyanth…

Drishti: I’d heard about Dushyanth ji’s past and his relationships with men but I hardly expected you to be one of them.

Sanjeev: I was and when you asked me to come to Chandra Mahel I didn’t say anything because I thought Dushyanth was still in New Zealand.

Drishti: Well clearly he’s not.

Sanjeev: And that’s why I must take your leave now.

Drishti: What? Why?

Sanjeev: I’m sorry Drishti but this is a bit uncomfortable for me right now. I’m sorry I’ll call you but I need to go now.

Sanjeev turns on his heel and leaves. Dushyanth walks out of the great hall as well and Drishti turns to Urvashi.

Drishti: We will talk about this in the morning. Right now I need to go to my room or else, there will be nothing left to talk about at all.

Drishti walks off and Urvashi begins to blow steam.

Urvashi: Everything was going so well!

Meanwhile… Aksh is watching all of this from upstairs. He thinks to himself…

Aksh: The timing of everything that has taken place in this house from the day Drishti came here is too odd to be coincidental. First Ankita Chachi and Dadi Bua come here, then Manisha Chachi arrives after that out of all the subsidies Agnihotri Incorporated has, someone wants to buy Sangeeta Chachi’s company and now Sanjeev is here. Each of these incidents has lead to one of the brothers leaving this house. Drishti is the one who brought the business deal for Singhania and she is the one who brought Sanjeev here, if I were to guess, I would say that somehow she was also behind the prior visits. But I can’t act just yet. Now that I suspect this I have to wait for the right time. If my suspicion is correct, then this incident will result in Dushyanth and Shastra leaving Chandra Mahel. If that happens then I’ll know that I’m right. I’m watching you Drishti, I’m watching you very closely.

And from the other end of the room… Rajind is thinking to himself…

Rajind: I’m watching you very closely Aksh. I want to know the reason behind your lies. I want to know why my wife had to spend so many years locked up in a mental facility when she was telling the truth all along. And I want to know how you’ve been living with yourself all these years knowing full well that Krithika was telling the truth. I want to know your reasons behind hiding the truth from everyone. I want to know why you’ve let this family burn in hell with Urvashi because of your silence. I will find my answers and to do so, I’ll be watching you.

The next morning, Drishti walks into the great hall to find Urvashi and Dushyanth waiting for her.

Urvashi: Drishti ji, good morning. I was wondering when you were going to wake up.

Drishti: Forget me waking up Urvashi ji, the time has come for you to wake up.

Urvashi: What do you mean?

Drishti: After what happened in this house last night I believe it is impossible for me to do business with you.

Urvashi and Dushyanth are shocked.

Urvashi: Whatever do you mean Drishti ji?

Drishti walks over to them.

Drishti: Do you want me to write it down on a piece of paper for you? Were you not here when Sanjeev Thakral announced that he and Dushyanth ji were lovers?

Urvashi: But you said you knew about Dushyanth and his past…

Drishti: Yes but I did not know of his past with Sanjeev Thakral.

Dushyanth: How does that make a differene?

Drishti: It makes a very big difference.

Urvashi: How so?

Drishti: Urvashi ji, Chakra International has remained scandal free from its inception. Sanjeev Thakral and Dushyanth Agnihotri are famous names. When they start working together, sooner or later someone from back then is going to find the need to bring attention to it. Then it’s my company’s name on the line. As much as I’m supportive of all kinds of lifestyles, I cannot allow my company to be caught in the middle of a scandal, I won’t allow it.

Dushyanth: So what do you propose we do?

Drishti: I propose you leave Agnihotri Incorporated.

Dushyanth is shocked to hear this.

Urvashi: What do you mean leave?

Drishti: Until this project is over Dushyanth cannot be seen or heard of as a member of Agnihotri Incorporated. Its only until the project is over, that way we can avoid a scandal and still get our work done. And afterward, if you and Sanjeev like, you can rekindle your old flame.

Dushyanth: That’s enough. I will not let you insult my relationships.

Drishti: I’m not insulting anyone or anything, I’m simply protecting what’s mine.

Dushyanth turns to Urvashi.

Dushyanth: I left everything in New Zealand and came here to join this company, simply because I wanted to be closer to my daughter. But you needed me, or else you wouldn’t have called me and I was there for you in your time of need. So tell me, are you going to be there for me now? Are you going to tell this woman that she can stuff her stupid deal? I’m going to give you the choice. If you make this decision against me I will leave the company forever and you can do with it what you see fit but if you want me to continue to support you then tell this woman that I will not leave the company under any circumstance.

Urvashi looks at Dushyanth and doesn’t know what to say. So Drishti speaks instead.

Drishti: What a weak set of choices you’ve presented Dushyanth ji. There isn’t much of a choice at all actually. Keeping you around may prove fruitful for a while but then where’s this company going to advance to with your guidance? But with this new project, Urvashi ji will be so rich she can hire people to do everything for her, including making more money. So you see, there isn’t much of a choice at all. Am I right Urvashi ji?

Both Drishti and Dushyanth wait for Urvashi to answer the question.

Urvashi: Yes… yes you are right. If you want to leave forever Dushyanth then I won’t stop you but otherwise, leave only until this project is over.

Dushyanth looks at Urvashi in shock.

Dushyanth: I can’t believe you’re saying this to me. I sat by and watched while you tore my family apart and never once did I stand in your way and now you do this to me?

Dushyanth shakes his head disdainfully and walks off. Drishti looks at Urvashi.

Drishti: I’m very proud of the decision you’ve made today. Remember, businesses don’t become successful just because we love them, they become successful only when we use our heads. Screw emotions. Think currency.

Drishti smiles at Urvashi and walks away and Urvashi smiles as well. Meanwhile… Dushyanth walks into his room and he’s beside himself. He looks around and then heads out. He goes to Shastra’s room and finds her studying there.

Dushyanth: Shastra, get your things together. We’re leaving.

Shastra: What? Why?

Dushyanth: Don’t ask me any questions just get your things together we have to go now.

Shastra: Ok Dad.

Dushyanth walks out and Shastra thinks to herself…

Shastra: This is crazy. Now we’re leaving too? One by one all the members of this family are leaving Chandra Mahel… And all of this happened from the day Drishti Kaul came into this house.

Shastra shakes her head and then gets up to pack her things. Not long after, Shastra and Dushyanth arrive downstairs and stand before Urvashi.

Urvashi: You’re leaving so soon?

Dushyanth: There’s no more reason to stay here now is there. You’ve made that quite clear.

Urvashi: Well alright then.

Just then Drishti walks in as well…

Drishti: What’s this? Are we having a farewell party?

Dushyanth: Come on Shastra, let’s go.

Shastra: One minute Dad.

Dushyanth wonders what Shastra is about to do. She leaves her bag aside and walks over to Drishti. At this moment Aksh and Rajind walk in from different areas of the house.

Shastra: Mrs. Drishti Kaul… I hope you’re happy now.

Drishti: I’m always happy. But why do you think I’m happy now?

Shastra: Because you’ve successfully torn this family apart.

Drishti looks as though she has taken offense to this.

Shastra: Ever since the day you walked into this house we have had nothing but trouble. I don’t know what you think you’ve accomplished but we used to be happy before you came into our lives.

Drishti: Were you now?

Shastra: Yes we were. We had our differences as a family and we didn’t always get along the way we would have wanted to but nothing was so serious as to make people leave this house.

Drishti: So basically you’re blaming me for you and your father leaving this house?

Shastra: Of course I am.

Drishti: But how is any of this my fault? No one asked Dushyanth to leave.

Shastra: But you asked him to leave the company.

Drishti: Only until this project was over.

Shastra: And why would you do something like that?

Drishti looks at Dushyanth.

Drishti: Oh so you’re father hasn’t told you has he?

Dushyanth: Shastra that’s enough, let’s go.

Drishti: What’s the rush Dushyanth ji? You’re daughter is accusing me of tearing this family apart, don’t you think it’s fair that she knows why you were asked to step out of the company for a short while?

Dushyanth: My daughter knows all she needs to know.

Drishti: Really? Is that why she’s standing here shooting her mouth off at me?

Rajind: Drishti ji, maybe you should just let them leave.

Drishti: I would like to but I would also like to maintain that I have played no hand in anyone making a departure from this house. And to that end I think I owe this young woman an explanation.

Dushyanth: Don’t you dare!

Drishti: Oh so it’s alright for her to accuse me of things I haven’t done but it’s not alright for her to know the truth?

Shastra: What truth are you talking about?

Drishti: We met with one of our business partners last night, a man named Sanjeev Thakral.

Shastra: So?

Drishti: So the reason I wanted Dushyanth to step down till this project was over was because I didn’t want any scandals to surround this new project.

Shastra: Why would he cause a scandal?

Dushyanth walks over to Shastra.

Dushyanth: I said that’s enough, let’s go!

Shastra: No Dad I want to hear what she has to say.

Drishti: It would have caused a scandal because Sanjeev Thakral and Dushyanth Agnihotri used to be… lovers.

Shastra feels as though her world has been ripped intro shreds.

Shastra: That’s a lie. It’s a vicious lie just like everything else that comes out of your mouth!

Drishti: You think I’m lying? Why don’t you ask your father what the truth is then?

Shastra: Dad, tell her, tell her that what she is saying is a lie! Tell her!

Drishti: Come on Dushyanth ji, tell me.

Dushyanth doesn’t know what to say.

Shastra: Dad why aren’t you saying anything? This woman is accusing you of all sorts of things and you’re not even defending yourself!!!

Drishti: How can he? What’s he going to say? That he’s a…

Dushyanth: ENOUGH! You want to know the truth Shastra? I’ll tell you the truth. The truth is that Sanjeev and I used to be lovers! It’s true!

Kurukshetra – Episode 434

Shastra takes a step back from Dushyanth.

Shastra: What did you just say?

Dushyanth: Shastra listen to me.

Shastra: What about Mom? What about…

Dushyanth: I was married to your mother, yes and you are our daughter… but after Sanskriti’s death, I met Sanjeev and…

Shastra: Oh my goodness! No this can’t be happening! This can’t be true!

Dushyanth: I’m afraid it is.

Urvashi: The whole family has known about this all along Shastra, just not you and your cousins.

Drishti: Family? The whole world knows about it. I’m surprised he managed to keep it a secret from you for this long. It was just my luck that I didn’t know that the other man was Sanjeev Thakral.

Shastra shakes her head furiously and then goes running upstairs.

Dushyanth: Shastra! Shastra!

Dushyanth goes running after her. The moment they’re gone Aksh steps forward.

Aksh: What do you want from this family Drishti?

Drishti: Excuse me?

Aksh: I will not excuse you! Not after everything you have done!

Drishti: And what exactly have I don?

Aksh: You had no business to tell Shastra about Dushyanth.

Drishti: Why? So I could be a liar just like you?

Aksh looks confused and Drishti realizes that she needs to cover up.

Drishti: I mean you consider yourself her family don’t you? It should have been one of your duty to tell her about it. The girl has a right to know about her father.

Aksh: But she didn’t have to find out like this!

Aksh turns to Urvashi.

Aksh: Choti Ma, I don’t think you should place your trust in this woman anymore. Shastra was right. Ever since the day she walked into this house we have had nothing but trouble.

Urvashi listens to this.

Aksh: From the moment she set foot into Chandra Mahel our family has left us one by one.

Drishti: This is an outrage! How dare you accuse me of tearing this family apart? I have had enough of this! I’m leaving this place right now!

Urvashi: No Drishti ji… wait… you don’t have to go anywhere. If Aksh has a problem with you living in Chandra Mahel then he can leave!

Aksh looks furious.

Urvashi: After all it’s not like he has any relationships with this house any longer.

Aksh: Choti Ma please! Why can’t you see through this woman? Her business mind has caused the destruction of this family.

Rajind: I don’t think so.

Everyone turns to look at Rajind.

Aksh: What?

Rajind: I don’t think Drishti ji has done any damage to this family that wasn’t already done before.

Aksh: How can you say that? We’ve all lived in this house for many years without any problem… how can you…

Rajind: Please Aksh… you and I have both spent the past so many years without our wives. Don’t tell me that you’ve been happy and if you have been then I have to change my opinion about you. I’m not taking Drishti ji’s side and I’m not saying that she’s right, I’m simply stating that what has happened has been the fault of this family! If we wanted to prevent these things from happening then we should have found a way to deal with it in the years that have gone by. Blaming her for our mistakes is not going to solve anything.

Aksh: I can’t believe that you’re saying all these things!

Rajind: Why shouldn’t I? You yourself have been living a business oriented life all this time and now I see that Drishti ji could really help take the family business to great heights so I’m thinking business as well. Now that Krithika is back home I would like to dedicate more of my time to the business and help Choti Ma with her work.

Urvashi is surprised to hear this.

Aksh: Are you saying that you are placing the business ahead of this family?

Rajind: Isn’t that what you’ve done in the past?

Aksh feels like he’s slapped in the face. He can’t react to it but he can’t ignore it either. He looks at Urvashi who raises a brow at him.

Aksh: Choti Ma please listen to me…

Urvashi: I’ve heard enough of your nonsense. If you don’t like the way things work in this house then you are more than free to follow suit and make your exit. No one is going to stop you. If you want to go, then go! But do not make the mistake of insulting Drishti ji again!

Urvashi walks off in a huff and Drishti walks over to Aksh.

Drishti: It’s so sad really. You’re whole life all you’ve done is latch on to some woman’s pallu! I thought things may have changed, but no… you’re still the same.

Drishti walks away as well. Rajind turns to leave but then…

Aksh: Rajind…

Rajind stops and turns to face Aksh who walks over to him.

Aksh: What has gotten into you?

Rajind: What has gotten into me? I could ask you the same thing.

Aksh: What the hell are you going on about?

Rajind: Please stop putting up this show for our benefit at least now.

Aksh: What show?

Rajind: You should know!

Aksh: I swear I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Rajind: That’s your answer to everything isn’t it? I don’t know this and I don’t know that.

Aksh: I really don’t know what you’re…

Rajind: When I asked you about how Rauktima Di found out about Ashvini Bhabi’s whereabouts you said you knew nothing.

Aksh: So?

Rajind: Both you and I know that’s a lie!

Aksh is shocked to hear this.

Aksh: What do you mean?

Rajind: I know that you know the truth.

Now Aksh is scared.

Rajind: And imagine what I felt when I realized that my wife had to spend the past twenty years in a mental facility because you were too much of a coward to open your mouth.

Aksh: Rajind please I…

Rajind: Shame on you! How could you do this?

Aksh: Please let me explain…

Rajind: There is nothing left to explain and there is nothing left to talk about. I can never trust you again, and that’s sad for the both of us.

Rajind turns on his heel and walks off leaving Aksh all by himself.

Aksh: Something is not right here… How would Rajind know about what happened?

Meanwhile Dushyanth is standing at Shastra’s room door and watching her breaking down. He doesn’t know how to approach her so he just watches. After a long time he finally finds the strength to walk in.

Dushyanth: Shastra…

She looks up at him and wipes away her tears in a fury.

Shastra: Please leave! I don’t want to talk to you.

Dushyanth: You have to listen to me.

Shastra: I don’t have to listen to anything. How many more secrets are you keeping from me?

Dushyanth: Please listen to me… I will tell you everything you need to know about my past. I just didn’t think there would ever be a necessity for it to come up and that’s why I…

Shastra: Dad, we tell each other everything, that has been our relationship from day one, even when you were in New Zealand and I was here.

Dushyanth: You’re right… But Shastra you have to understand that to me you will always be my little girl and I never thought it would be appropriate to discuss such an angle of my life with you.

Shastra calms down for a moment.

Shastra: Wait… do you think I’m ashamed of you because of all this?

Dushyanth: Well aren’t you?

Shastra: No. I’m not. I’m just really angry that you didn’t tell me. We share everything with each other Dad and the fact that you would keep something of this nature from me makes me wonder what else I need to know about the past of this family and where I come from.

Dushyanth seems relieved but he is still tense.

Dushyanth: Shastra, this family’s past is not something that any of us are proud of. We come from a long line of vicious and manipulating people who would do anything to gain victory, including selling their souls to the devil. If we’ve kept certain truths from you it’s only because we’ve wanted what was best for our children and for you to go out into the world without the shadow of these walls clinging tightly over you. Please forgive me…

Shastra looks at him for a long time. Then she wipes away her tears and holds her father’s hand.

Shastra: We’re not going anywhere Dad, we’re going to stay here in Chandra Mahel and fight this woman. Who does she think she is to just walk in here and destroy our lives the way she has?

Dushyanth is taken aback by this.

Dushyanth: Drishti Kaul is a powerful woman. There’s no saying what she might do next.

Shastra: If we keep thinking that way then we’ll never succeed. We have to be strong. Chandra Mahel is our home, not hers. Dadi has never wanted what was best for us, just what was best for her. We have to prove to her now that we want to fight for our legacy and we have to show her that we are capable of winning.

Dushyanth: I agree with you, but there’s just the two of us…

Just then Rajind walks into the room.

Rajind: That’s where you’re wrong.

They both look up at him.

Dushyanth: Rajind… what are you doing here?

Rajind: I’ve come to share something with you. Something that will change the way you see this entire situation.

Dushyanth and Shastra stand up.

Rajind: You are right, Drishti has been responsible for everything that has been going on with this family from the day she arrived.

Shastra: I knew it.

Dushyanth: Wait, how do you know this?

And without warning… Drishti walks into the room.

Drishti: Because I told him.

Dushyanth and Shastra look confused.

Drishti: I’m sorry for the way in which I’ve done things but as I’ve explained to Rajind, it would have been impossible to face Urvashi together as one family with all the ammunition she had against each and every member of this family. She would have kept using the secrets of your pasts to influence your present and keep you as her loyal slaves for the rest of your lives. But now there is no more fear of that.

Dushyanth: What the hell are you talking about?

Rajind: Dushyanth, let her talk.

Drishti: My intention is not to break this family up, but to remind them what it means to stand up for each other through thick and thin, to remind them of the ties and the bonds that make them who they are… that make us who we are…

Shastra: Us?

Drishti: Agnihotris.

Dushyanth: But you are not an Agnihotri.

Drishti: And that’s where you’re wrong. It’s time you know the truth. It’s time I told you, I’m not Drishti Kaul… I am your sister, Dushyanth, it’s me, Rauktima.
